hey everyone,
just querying this, i have been after a giant reign for a while, now been offered the frame for £250 however it is 2006...
is 2006 too old now? plus how much will a service on the shock cost..
thanks.
no ive just bought a 2005 bike
too old my main ride is a 93 saracen
I've got a 1985 Saracen - not my main ride.
Unless you've loads of bits lying around to build a bike up you've got to take into account what you'll spend on parts then how much a 1yr old or last seasons bike will cost complete. Depends on size you need but you can get a 2009 Reign 2 for just over a grand and a Reign 1 for £1300
ah now tht is not a problem...all my kit on my current bike is suitable for the Reign.. so only cost is to put the stuf on, which being mates with a mechanic is not too bad... 😉
I'm disappointed by the thread title. I was expecting a "half your age then add seven" thread. 😀
Seriously though, 2006 isn't too old, my main bike is an 04 Enduro.
Shock service is around £90, with a shock body replacement at £30 if it's worn down
my main off road ride is a zaskar le.. 15 years old and still going strong
+1 not too old. I agree with the above as it's so dependant on how the bike has been looked after and what it has been used for.
A 6 month old bike that has been launched off big stuff, generally abused and not maintained would be a much worse buy than a 5 yr old bike that's been XC'd round the woods
i've got a zaskar race from '91 its more to do with the state the frame is in
