been out on the blue pig this afternoon, messing in middleton woods.
so 1st thing was steps, which are not easy when you are top heavy.
3 flights one after the other where ridden with ease.
next steep rolling over the edge type stuff in a steep chute.
this was done on the 1st attempt, i did this on the chumba the other week and got over the back tyre, but fell off half way down.
next a rooty steep climb that has me getting the back tyre caught up on most bikes have have ridden it on. i did manage it on the stiffee a month or so ago, and i pis5ed it on the pig today.
next was a full downhill type run with a few little drops, kickers and small sharp berms.
the mountain king tyres were crap in the dry loose corners, but with the 750mm bars and short stem, the bike felt very nice and controlable.
last but not least was the bombholes or figure of 8 at the bottom.
i have seen lad's get 6/8 foot off the lip coming out of them, i managed abot 10 inches........ 8)
so i feel pleased for now with my purchase.......we will see.
one thing for sure, the blue pig is a very comfy frame.
one thing for sure, the blue pig is a very comfy frame.
Thats the bit I was interested in. I have a dodgy back and my old steel bike has decided to give up on me.
Testing one @18bikes on 3rd Oct if you fancy a pootle?
Nice one Ton. G:ad to see you;re enjoying it. Took mine round Dalby at the weekend, it;s a crakcing trail centre bike.
NIce one Tony. So what's your build then and have you got any pics....of the bike - I know what you look like.
Ed, build is
20'' frame
revelation 130mm air forks
nukeproof 750mm bars
nukeproof 70mm stem
nukeproof seatpost
d521 rims on deore hubs
mountain king tyres
and good old xt gearing
hope 180mm stoppers
and pics are not being show, co people take the pi5s....... ๐
Good build, apart from as you point out, the tyres. Enjoy it.
"People" are idiots.....
I would like to see pictures
Saw the one outside 18Bikes this morning - first look over, it looks a great bike.
Then I saw the Pace 405 above it......
Then I noticed the Nicolai in between them was a Rohloff.....
God, I hate that shop! ๐
๐
Ton in looking like he'll keep a bike longer than a month shocker!

"People" are idiots.....
amen to that
We need pics ๐ I want to see a 20", the size for real men!
nice photinia
750mm bars! sounds like a right laugh ๐
Would it be rude to claim dibbs? ๐
I'm not surprised it feels comfy - you've zip-tied a trampoline to the back wheel. Must have about 18" of rear travel.
Like it - want to take it for a 'little' ride this Sunday?
dave, can't, i am earning brownie points.............decorating.
aaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh ๐ฅ

Matthew
Ok - see you on the 4th - it might have been a bit long and tricky for you anyway ๐
dave, where you going
Having second thoughts? - start Hawes, Batty Moss Viaduct, Twistleton Scars, Clapham, Long Lane, Thieves Moss, Horton in Ribblesdale, Ling Gill Bridge, Cam High Road, West Cam Road and finish down Rottenstone Hill - tell her you will decorate next week !!!!!!!!!!!!! ๐
mail me a link for parking, and a time... ๐
Ton - Do you not find the Revs a bit flexi without a maxle ?
I think it looks nice Ton. ๐
Looks solid! (meaning nice)
bigsi
just a tad mate.
looking forsome 140/150mm 20mms as i type..
Does look well. Fit for purpose indeed.
Ton - YGM
Sweet.
Bolt through fork will be a good improvement too.
Gate ๐
deejay - ygm g
Are the forks gonna be for sale?
First ride euphoria review from a serial bike swapper. Just like new climbing boots, IME, they were always good for a grade harder first time out ;-). Be interested to hear what you've got to say about it after a month / decent number of rides.
20" are gate-esque in my eyes but if you need a 20" frame then it's irrelevant. Tyres and forks wouldn't be my choice but sounds like you're changing them anyway.
Only times I've tried big wide bars it's either meant brayed knuckles in the trees or the position / reach / fit got all f'ed up. Is there something about the BP that's specifically intended to make them work or is it a trend thing?
Refering to yourself in the third person - odd :-S
Looks good. Now take off the wheels, wrap bubblewrap around each end and practice 'jumps'/air on the trampoline please.
Good call on the new forks, if i hear of any I'll give you a shout ๐
20" are gate-esque in my eyes
And in my eyes your leprechaunesque bike looks like something for an, errm leprechaun ๐
Looks good in large, though sadly I don't think the seat tube extension is big enough for a Crud Guard. Shame.
That didn't last long then, even for Ton.... ๐
http://www.singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/fs-20-ragley-blue-pig-full-build
shame he doesnt do a "ive had enough" review....
just a few notes, doesnt have to be anything that would reflect in its resale value.
steel frame looks nice but is too heavy, compared with the identical geometry of the mmmbob
the top tube was long for a 20" frame and i couldnt get comfy without an inline post and 50mm stem - this changed how the fork worked
the funky new chainstay setup might allow for great tyre clearance but it attracts and holds mud
now selling because
a) im bored
b) i hate it
c) too 'core' for me
cmon ton, finish the job.
I doubt he's ridden it enough to form any sort of valid opinion..... ๐
