Anyone here been taught by him? does he teach you good quality stuff? And should I bother with coaching?

Cheers

I can highly recommend Tom. Very nice guy and an effective coach. Having been to Tony Doyle (Jedi) then Tom I would find it very difficult to decide where to go for another session. I would say they are equally good. Chicksands is a great place to learn and Tom certainly improved my skills.

I find Tom is better VFM than Jedi. Tom is race proven, doesn't do a blog about your session and high five you every five minutes & that suits me too.

Coaching has worked for me, made me crash less and got me airborne

I was thinking about doing the jumps and drops course, I already can jump and do drops but would like to refine them, also advanced skills

Seen Tom coach lots of times when visiting Chicksands - clearly very committed to helping what ever level of rider is attending progress.
Really friendly bloke, have been tempted to book some myself with him.

Please post again if you do go.

He is one seriously quick rider - raced him on a previous visit - proper handed my arse in my hand on the dual track and think I am 2nd place on Strava for past 2yrs 🙂

I saw him coaching someone today and before i left i could actually see some improvement. I think i'm going to jumps and drops course 🙂 read the testimonials of people on his site, and you guys also are saying he's one hell of a rider/ teacher 🙂

Quite agree - I favour the dual track over the 4X as well - the last table top jump before the left hand berm has you hanging for an age - can catch some serious air off that 🙂

I was underwhelmed when me and a couple of mates did the Hadley farm thing although he did seem to be somewhat hamstrung by John, the other "coach" there.

The only puddles i saw last weekend were right before the first jump on the dual slalom. Remember, its got more grip when wet and tacky and chicksands, so dont worry too much about damp ground 🙂

Anyone wanting to head there this weekend, bear in mind there's 4X race on tomorrow.

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

Yer the Hadleigh guided rides we weren't meant to be coaching but I tried to chuck in as much tuition as I could without being told off.

Keep riding.

I've had some coaching by Tom. Best £45 I've spent. Clear, focussed, easy to comprehend and all round good bloke. Well worth it and will definitely use Tom again.

Whatever your skill level, what ever you want to achieve, Tom'll help you get there. As others have said, he can walk the talk and really can get the message across.

Oh yes, the beard is quite impressive. 😀

My partner and I did a day with Tom at Chicksands last week. We both learned so much that needs to be put into practice but will visit again in a few months time for further help and guidance.

Really great coach - discusses things well, makes you feel completely at ease having explained things so that they are clear and risks get addressed, of course his demonstrations make everything look simple and then his feedback and action points are spot on.

Seeing as this thread has been bumped it seems like a good opportunity to post Tom's new video;
