Did the Snow Roads Audax yesterday. 300km with 4800m of climby loveliness. Most of it was in glorious sunshine, but then we had a nice chunk of my favourite weather type of all - big fat monsoon type rain falling straight down.

Took just under 16hrs to complete it with food and mechanical breaks. Which I am pleased with considering my total lack of riding this year.

If you have never heard of the Snow Roads route, look it up and go do it. It is the best route I have ever done anywhere.

Looks good.

I don't usually venture that far south -scared of being speared by the natives ๐Ÿ™‚

actually it's more their driving that scares me.

Anyone got anything that can figure out how many calories something like that would have burnt? Because I must have eaten 9000 calories worth today.

2 slice of toast , 3 wheetabix with milk , 3 pints of milk 3 pints of water , 2 pints of diluting juice , a half pint of coke ,half pint of apple juice, a packet of jaffacakes , quavers , 2 ham and cream cheese sarnies , a dairy milk caramel and for tea shortly - steak pie potatoes and veg ...

only saving grace this week was that i didnt have to get up this morning and do a 200k followup like i did last week !

According to the internet you burn around 10calories per minute cycling at a normal intensity. So 16hrs cycling *60*10= 9,600 calories. That's a lot of bacon sandwiches.

Just weighed myself there. Somehow I have managed to put on half a stone since friday.

gone from 12 st 4 to 13 stone over the weekend - i suspect it will reduce back done as i pee out all that fluid. body fat is still a nice 9% - just a bit too heavy with flat out power atm for being a grimpeur - was flying up hills last year at 11 st 6 - training for a long distance TT this year so got more raw power less climbing ability

That sounds like a gruelling ride. Fair play to you both.

Another thing that I have just remembered is that I didn't have a single car cut me up or even get a little bit too close yesterday. Rare that.
