Hi there,
I've been re-building my old pace rc200f8 over the last few weeks, am going completely modern now as decided to stick with it as my one and only MTB.
Just got a pair of DT SWISS XRC LTds and currently run XTR 9 speed (2007), original turbine lp crank and hope tech X2s. I noticed that a few bolts could do with changing. The bottle cage bolts are scuffed and a bit rusty in places as are seatclamp bolts. I'm looking for som nicely machined silver or maybe gun metal grey ti bolts for the above and maybe a few red anodised chainring bolts and red jockey wheels (to go with the original red anodised finish.... Any ideas?
I've been looking at KCNC or a website http://www.tibolts.co.uk
ps. I know for you RC200 purists that this is all a bit modern, but i have destroyed or warn out all my original parts and i just want this beauty to be a functional out and out trail eater...
You do realise tibolts is superstar? I would not use cheap ti bolts there can be issues with them and IIRC people have had issues with bolts from these people
ask them if the threads are cut or rolled - IIRC you need rolled threads
Other sites to try are Chain Reaction or this guy on eBay or Pro Bolt / Tasty Nuts.
A bit of googling set to this site will give you plenty of other people's opinions on these suppliers!
Edited to say the Nuke Proof ones from Chain Reaction have rolled threads. And that I wouldn't go near Superstar Components either.
Tibolts Ti bolts are made of cheese. ๐ก
Pro bolt are much better quality than the tibolt stuff. the tibolt stuff had a rough machined feel, whilst the probolt kit was very nicely made with rolled threads (much better).
A bit more expensive but worth it. They do a nice blue tint option on the Ti as well.
Personally I use Ti for the seatclamp and alloy for everything else, including the chainring bolts for the rear dropouts. Not had a failure yet (hugs wooden desk).
Cheers guys - looking into probolts now...
