Ey up,

This has probably been asked a thousand times but has any got any recommendations for tubeless cyclocross tyres.

So the story goes, I have just bought some Challenge Limus TLR’s and tried to set them up tubeless, they are kind of holding air but it’s seeping like crazy out of the sidewalls. The actual construction of the tyres seem a bit naff in my opinion, almost feels like sugar paper. Anyway, I’m looking for alternatives now. I have had the Michelin muds in the past and they are a nice tyre but not great in deep winter mud.

Any advice is greatly received!

Cheers

Joe

Yeah...I've found most 'TLR' take a bit of perserverance with the sealant until they hold air acceptably. At least for a cross race they only have to stay up for an hour.

Anyway, I just got a Terreno Wet TNT - another tubeless ready tyre. It's holding air well enough, although not perfectly either - no obvious seepage but does go down over a few days at the moment.

A vote for the Terrenos here too. Interestingly though mine have had no leakage issues at all (had them a couple of years) and were a doddle to get seated

Yeah, should have mentioned mine is on a relatively wide (26mm internal I think) hookless rim which may not be helping (and is specifically forbidden on the tyre which you notice as you seat it, but doesn't seem to be mentioned their website before you buy it - however it seems fine and I haven't died yet). Pumps up to 36mm on my rim.

Cheers for the feedback guys. I’ll persevere with the Challenge for a little while longer and maybe look at the Vittorias as a possible replacement. I’m racing the NWCCA tomorrow in Burnley so fingers crossed!!

Cheers

Continenta Terra Speed for dry conditions or Terra Trail Pro for the damp. Both go up well on Alex rims once the sealant has coated the bead.

Before buying new tyres it's prob checking all the usual stuff if you haven't already- plenty of sealant, 360° shakes, washing-up liquid solution on the tyre wall, leaving the wheel on it's side, making sure the valve is on super tight, all that kind of stuff

I think I'm seeing a pattern with lightweight/tan sidewalls and seeping sealant (it's probably common knowledge already, I forget if I'd seen it on here maybe).

I guess in theory if you persevere you should a more supple ride out of them, I know the tan sidewall version of Vittoria tyres is lighter/more supple but also apparently seeps for a while.

I've got tan sidewalls (Panaracer GravelKing Semi-Slicks) tubeless and they stay up better than any of my inner tubed tyres

Well, I raced on the them on Sunday with no incidents. Maybe I jumped the gun a little!! Good to know that you guys rate the Vittorias and Schwalbe’s for future reference!

Cheers

Bit late but I just fitted the Vittoria Mixed and this was my first attempt at fitting tubeless. I'm very impressed but think I will swap for the wet ones now it's getting muddier.
