[#9646693]

So looking at going to the alps next year around May time, there will be three of us. Will be the first time for all of us so just looking for a bit of advice. Looking at middle of May time before the school holidays. Is the weather going to be ok then?

We are going to drive over, get the tunnel so that bit is sorted. Only spoke to one person who has been before and they recommended tignes? We are all more into singletrack, trail riding than flat out downhill. Been to the lakes a few times and love it there. But wouldn’t mind riding a bit of everything. Wherever we go we plan to get a guide for a couple of days, show us all the good bits. But some well marked trails on the other days would be good. We are looking at going for a week and doing as much riding as we can manage.

So basically is there anywhere else we should look at?

recommended guides?

Accommodation?

Tips?

Thanks

Snow or bikes? Both will probably be a bit crap up there that time of year, certainly no lifts about

So yeah leave it a bit!!

Glad I’ve asked now! So yea end of June time wise, not really interested in a package deal. More just 1 or 2 days guided.

From memory and it's been a while not sure if there is enough for a week up there, a lot of the best stuff I did a few years back involved a van and lifts for point to points etc - especially with limited lifts running early. Guides actually make a lot of sense when they come with their own shuttle vehicles - have a look at the packages.

Trailforks doesn't look like it's promising for more than a weekend

What we tend to do is stay in Bourg or Les Arcs for two weeks and then visit Tignes for a day trip from there. Much more riding in Les Arcs on top of day trips to Tignes, La Thuile, Pila, Meribel etc.
