[#10282388]

Building up a shopper last night Onย  tightening the brake bolt it went tight then loose.

Trying to undo the bolt it just spun so I managed to pull it out.

The bolt seemed to have the fork thread attached to it. Never had that happen before. They are 10 year old Marzocchis.

The other bolt is fine.

Any one have a fix?

helicoils were made for this.

Have helicoiled my ibis frame top mount for similar reasons and its solid.

I have successfully helicoiled a brake mount on an old set of Floats where I did the same thing, they are still working on a singlespeed winter hack ~10 years on.

Helicoils/inserts are better than the original design of cut cutting the thread into the casting - so you're really getting an upgrade.....

Would helicoil if it was mine. Have told a shop when this happened to a new fork that no, a longer bolt wasn't going to work (it will be quite close to bottoming out, you won't get much thread engagement, if it's failed already with decent thread engagement you will have to go very easy on it in future. Brakes being attached to my bike when I need them is quite useful.)
