Quick question- Do I need to grease or not?

In a steel or alloy frame, yes, but a light film will do. (More about stopping it corrodong into the frame than getting it in and out easily).

Depends. Will you move or remove it much? Mine come out regularly so I run them dry on the mountain bikes. The one on the road bike never moves so that has copaslip on it.

If you're a serial saddle dropper and its wet/muddy or really dusty out (so not the UK .. ), then greasing the post can attract loots of crud and make it harder to get the saddle in/out
Though no grease will wear out the post/seattube quicker (if a serial dropper/raiser)

Q โ Should I grease my seatpost before installation?
A โ A very light coat of grease is okay. Do not use anti-seize as it can lead to slipping. To prevent sticking the post in the frame, remove clean and re-install every 90 days. Do not use grease in a carbon fiber frame.
