Post has been faultless for a good 9 months since ive had it but tried it last night and it returns really slowly and the last inch or so has to be pulled up manually. Anyone any experience of this and wher to send to for service?
Yes had the exact same problem, spoke to Thomson about it and they diagnosed it as having a loose bumper/ o ring. Can't remember the exact wording but think it was something to do with the top out.
Anyhow it had to go back under warranty for repair I'm afraid.
I have one. It is very sensitive to cable tension. Loosen the grub screw that holds the cable and make sure the actuation arm can move freely and the mechanism isn't gunked up. If the cable has corroded in the outer this can also cause issues. Rule out cable issues first before looking into potential internal problems.
Just found the email I had back from Thomson, and the correct diagnosis was a faulty 'piston bumper o ring'
Edit As above rule the cable out first, I'd assumed you'd already done this sorry
I've fitted two in the last week or so and as Mudsoul says, they are very sensitive to cable tension. Try that first.
I do wish Thomson would release some information on how to access the sliding components. I don't mind the damper being sealed but I'd like to be able to do an air/lower style service on one if I'm going to buy one.
Just about to send my second one back with failure to fully return, both after about a year of hard use. First one got replaced no question and I expect the second to be resolved as professionally. Customer service was superb last time so here's hoping.
