The last time I needed a bike shop, and the only time in the last few years, it was Pedal Progression who helped me out. Maybe they have a point.

Wish my lad had known that, you could've fixed his 3 month old Saint pedals that he sent back to CRC for a refund & was without his bike in the meantime.

Ha Ha Ha,

I'm all for supporting the LBS but when they are as bad as the two in my town then forget it as they are hopeless, staff don't really know what they are talking about and can't even order the right parts when you tell them exactly what you need.

As for letting them near my bike to fix anything not a chance! I'd rather ask STW and try to do it myself using YouTube etc. as a guide. Anything I couldn't do then I'd drive anything up to 50 miles for a decent shop.

Last time I went into my LBS I got charged 16 quid for two innertubes.

Never again.

I can fix everything on my bike except doing a full suspension service and I own all the tools to do the jobs I can do. Internet for me.

I think we should attempt something a bit easier first...

There's not a problem STW can't fix,
Cause they can do it, in the mix,
And if your bike gives you trouble just move back to a double, and don't let it trouble your chain,
Cause away goes trouble down the trail,
Said away goes trouble down the trail.

And this week my lbs managed to save an x9 rear much after crash damage with their random spares collection.

My LBS is like something from the earlier 80s they sell only Raleigh bikes, their parts and accessories is pretty poor. Not used them for repairs as I've done all my own for years now.

I like the idea of supporting a local bike shop but:-
1, very slim pickings near me.
2, never felt particularly supported in return when I used to use them.

Probably worth popping into your LBS first to try one on and get the size right before ordering.

MY LBS is Merlin

Surely Hora is a perpetual motion machine or is he just an unstopable force [ he probably prefers this described as an irresistible force]

Agreed CFH. Without my LBS I would never have got into mountain biking, I wouldn't have the custom builds I have. I can't fix my bike, i have neither the appitude, tools, time or interest in doing so, Most of the trails I rode in the Surrey Hills wouldn't have existed either.

I'll be putting garage to the test again his week. Fortunately don't use them much but always good when needed. Pretty much on outskirts of Leeds.
Like Jamie's t shirt, think I'd even buy one.

Another vote for Garage bikes in Morley. Nice guys, great advice and competitively priced.

Leeds city centre on the other hand, you might be right. Although the pedallers arms is good but not really a shop.
