From @sportivephoto

Iโ€™ve been to several hundred sportives but donโ€™t think Iโ€™ve seen disc wheel at one so far!

That just looks far too small for him.

Given his gear choice/mech position the photographer did good at capturing forward momentum out of walking pace

Altura tights (Baggy)
Pro overshoes, yet warm enough for fingerless gloves.

Epic.

Also, struggling to think of a Sky rider that would have had that flag/partial name.

Small aero bottle, so I assume he was still partaking in cake stops

If he's happy, best of luck to him.

Cake could be in the aero frame bag.

to be fair to him, if you're wanting to do 50-100 miles on a TT bike to see how it works out, doing it on a supported group ride makes some sense

big:big, though - that's not on ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

Any Sportive I've [s]raced[/s] participated in ruled out bars like those. It could be he was simply out for a ride at the same time as a Sportive was coming past?

The number board suggests otherwise.

bike's pretty mucky so presumably wet weather - maybe just keeping his feet dry

Racing to the next cake stop? What cake do Team Sky endorse these days?

This sort of thread show what a bunch of meanypegs you all are. He is out riding a bike but gets a thread to mock him because he's not doing it "right"...

Scotroutes - he has a number card attached to the bars. He also has a wiggle sportive number sticker on the side of his helmet.

Max, you're right on one count, he definitely isn't doing it right.

No TT puts a number board on the front of a bike

Any Sportive I've raced

Sportives aren't races, sorry to burst your bubble

Sportive = not a race for people racing
Audax = a race for people who don't want to to race.

I know someone that did this, only had the one bike/helmet with them in the country and really wanted to do the sportive.

If it was a bloke on an unsuitable Boris bike or the like you'd all be applauding.

I'm torn between feeling that he's a bit of a plum for entering a sportive in/on that and feeling that we're mostly missing the point that he's out on his bike and enjoying himself (presumably).

Bit like the threads moaning about the people on expensive carbon enduro bikes riding around trail centres. If someone is out on their bike, not being dicks, then surely it's all good?

Si

At some point somebody will remember there is a pic of me on the Manchester velodrome in an old met parachute...
Only lid and the bolts had seized

Is there a pic of him doing the walk of shame on a moderate incline?

Bottle on the down tube and a frame bag at least on the seat tube, that's ~10W being thrown away right there, before we even talk about shoulder-arm angles suggesting the frame is ~10cm too short in the top tube for him! ๐Ÿ˜†

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sergio_Henao

At the risk of missing out on all the fun - maybe he's in training for an IM or other long-distance triathlon/TT event and the sportive fits in with his training schedule, maybe even uses some of the same roads, and by having feed stations might even help him try out his fuelling plan for said event?

Isn't Henao from the wrong country? That's a German flag right?

Remind me when Ribble and Corima supplied Sky? Nice kit though.

And his frame is too small, fails the 3cm rule.
