Opera House
Wander round some of the old building in the "East" looking for bullet holes (actually, some wonderful architecture)

The Reichstag is well worth a visit, you can go right up the dome. You have to book in advance, but you can do it online. Winged Victory (I think it's called) is good too. And you could easily spend a day in Potsdam, but it's probably not the best time of year for Sans Souci. Bet it'd be lovely in the snow though. Not quite Berlin, but really easy to get too. Get a tourist pass at the airport for Public Transport, not sure how much it would be, but absurdly cheap and just lets you jump on the s and u bahns, and any passing trams at will

You can follow the path of the wall, taking in Checkpoint Charlie, Reichstag etc, its fascinating and thought provoking but prepare for lots of walking!
Wife and I spent 3 days there back in August and loved the city and most definitely would go back! Oh and if you are there on a Sunday pay a visit to the flea market at Mauerpark. Getting around by the U Bahn is by far the easiest.

I can recommend a few good places to eat too if you want? Just drop me a pm

Cheers Pete

The Stasi Museum is absolutely, utterly, brilliantly barkingly mad yet fascinating. Loads of stuff from the old DDR days including all the stuff the secret police used to spy on people. Some of the rooms have been left as they were which is amzing too. Its not too far from the centre, if its ok walk down Karl-Marx Allee which has some brilliant architecture.

To be honest, as horrifying as it is, you would be missing out if you didnt visit the concentration camp at Sachsenhausen. Get the train to Oranienburg and its about 15 minutes walk. Dont bother with the tour, just wander round and get lost in your thoughts, its very moving. The Holocaust memorial just off Brandenburg Gate is quite incredible too. If you are still up for more, the Topography of Terror is a fascinating museum too.

The East Side Gallery is worth a visit too. Have a wander round Tiergarten, to be honest I can just wander round Mitte and that area in the East all day drinking coffee and stuff.

There are some good cheap restaurants on Oranienstrasse, mostly pizza and italian but ok. Currywurst is good, get amongst it.

I'll be honest, Mauerpark was lost on me. It was a good day so we just sat and had lunch in the park but all the stuff on sale was tat you would find at any market.

Forgot to say, if its dry and you're wrapped up, walk along the river to Treptower Park which is the Soviet War Memorial and has an epic 100ft statue at the far end. I like history!.

I was there last weekend, fantastic city, but be prepared for the cold. Unbelievably cold wind if you're on a north running street. Christmas markets are great, and not expensive, in fact, it's really not expensive as a city at all, considering it's similar in size to Paris and London, it's nowhere near as expensive.

All the big attractions are worth going to (apart from checkpoint Charlie) but we really liked wandering round the areas not right in the centre, as the centre is pretty much like any other. Rosenthaler platz, hakeschermarkt, kollwitz platz areas were all great, with a very eastern feel.

Hot tip. There's a Vietnamese restaurant right at rosenthaler platz U-bahn station, called famdang. Not much to look at, but food was brilliant and cheap as chips. 3 of us had two courses each and a drink and it was 16eu all in. ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

The telecoms tower (sorry, can't remember the correct name) is fantastic: you can see the whole of Berlin from the top.

If you have enough money go for steak at Escados.
If you like underground music find a good party, it won't be difficult.

I rode there in summer, it was bloody brilliant. Loved Berlin. The TV tower is great, and you can have a hideously overpriced piece of cake and a latte in the 60's inspired revolving restaurant. Take a walk down Karl Marx Allee and visit Cafe Sybille, again, good cake and coffee and an interesting little display about the building of the street and the socialist housing. For fans of massive, showy, autocratic architecture, visit the Olympic stadium.
