[#1956091]

Thinking of heading up to Thetford this Sunday to blast around the ace singletrack for the day with a buddy who hasn't been before.

It's been a couple of years, but I remember the Dusk 'Till Dawn route being a belter, but not marked at the time. Is it obvious where to go, or would I benefit from a .gpx (if so, can someone please send me one of the route).

Are the black and red runs worth checking out instead? I did a bit of these and they seemed fun, but the d2d route seems to stick in my head as being more memorable.

Cheers

The D2D route changes every year - just find some singletrack and follow it or log on to the website to see if the usual groups are going out. Usually 10 am from Brandon Counrty Park

I think the D2D route uses some of the black run in reverse, so would be dangerous when there are people riding the marked trails. If you're after fast flowy and relatively undamaged singletrack I'd recommend the Brandon Country Park side. It isn't marked, but it's easy to find. The Thetford red route is now all-weather(ish), but the black isn't, so it'll be pretty cut up in a lot of places. Still worth riding though.

Thanks guys.

Come to think of it, I believe the routes I rode were back in 06 and mostly over the Brandon Country Park side.

I seem to remember it covered a surprisingly large area, with trails going off left, right and centre... some exploring seems to be in order, but if anyone has some gps routes then that would really help me out.

Cheers.

Sorry - no gps routes, but I would recommend trying the Brandon side first of all and seeing what you can find. You can pretty easily string something together.
I was there on Wednesday and the red & the black are in suprisingly good condition considering the rain of the last few weeks. I left my mud guards on but didn't need them at all. There was probably only 5 puddles in 18 miles of riding.
If you want an easy to navigate pootle round, then the black followed by the red will be fun.

Best to park at Brandon rather than High Lodge. It's £2 on a weekend at Brandon & about £45 at High Lodge (slight exaggeration, but you get the idea).
I can highly recommend a post ride bacon & egg roll with a slice of their choc orange cake (if there's any left) washed down with a pot of tea.

EDIT - Actually, I've just looked on my mobile & I've got a 20 mile file on My Tracks of some of the singletrack around the Brandon side. I can try and send you that.....?? Should work with a Garmin or whatever, I'd have thought??? Let me know, if you want me to try & e-mail it over.

Went to Thetford 18 months ago thinking I'd find the DtD corse easy - but didn't. Ended up doing the Red and Black routes and loved them. Great fun, not REALLY long but at speed they are worth doing without a doubt. As you are there anyway, don't miss them !

Stumpy - Sorted - Big Thanks!

Slider - Cheers for the tip. Hopefully we'll have some energy left after exploring the Brandon side for at least the black!
