Circuit is about a mile but..he's not out there today.
What have I done?
Strava weekly challenge over?

Put a sign out saying:
Dave?? Come back!
He's going for the Strava hometown hero award.
I’m not convinced that is true. Picking a line to avoid road imperfections when cornering at 70+kph while also trying to avoid ending up piling into a dry stone wall is for me far more taxing than ragging a mtb through a forest.
I don't think it is in general terms - but obviously anything is hard if you do it fast enough. But the point is that riding like that on road is just too dangerous to be done regularly so people tend not to do it. At least I've never met anyone who does or talks about doing it. I've never seen roadies walking up climbs analysing line choices on roads or sessioning the hard bits. That's not to say fast road descending isn't hard of course, but it's not really the same thing. The above road examples pertain specifically to racing, not recreational riding.

Posted it on here. He's clearly a forumite and worried that given he has actually been seen riding a bike rather than just talking about it he might have his membership revoked.
Got some mates?
Be nice, say hi.
He's back!
Must've fancied a lie in; he's normally out there by 8:30.
Edit: 2m 40s a lap and it's driving wind & fine rain out there.
Perfect day to invite him in.
Or how about joining him for a chat.
Or hold out a sign with split times on it.
I assume he is riding anti-clockwise for the left turns. Hillingdon Cycle Circuit is the same distance. I will regularly ride 30 to 50 laps. Often to fixed power.
One mile in 2:40 is about 180 watts on my road bike. I assume it’s not a hilly loop? He’s not really trying. Wait till it goes down to 2:10.
My fastest lap of Hillingdon is in a race - 1:54. On the TT bike I aim for 2:05 to 2:00.
After he's gone past Nip out with a road closed /diversion sign and mess with his head!
I have a 10 k loop I do a few times as its quite punchy with a few hills so im rarely wasting much effort on flat.
But seems a bit odd to do such distance on a repetitive short loop. Interval training is usually low mileage.
maybe its just to keep local as other have said.
go join him doing loops

I knew a guy that once rode 100 miles on the Hillingdon cycle circuit (so about 110 laps?). He was training for the Etape, but we still all thought he was mental.
This loop is smaller than I thought. Does he live on it or ride to it?
The OPs post was a cunning ruse to out the Roadies on the forum who will now be banned. Like those police sting operations where they send the crims to be arrested an invite to attend the prize giving event for their lotto win.
Good one OP. We know who they are now 🙂
I have a friend here who has a disabled wife, she requires near constant care, he gets out for a couple of hours 2-3 times a week, but a route that means he is never more than 2-3 miles from home, his route is basically 3 overlaid figures of eight.. so he can be home within 15mins.
For some it would be really dull, for him it saves his sanity a little.
Get out and join him, then check on Strava flyby (if that still exists). Or stand outside your house with a musette and hold it out for him. Stick your phone number in it if you're feeling lucky 😉
Put cones over the road and a diversion sign and see what he does?
I can't get my head around just going around and around in circles for training. But then I ride my bike for fun.
Mebbe he's "WFH"? Ha can do 50 milers, but never be any more than 90 seconds from a taking Teams call in his home office
