[#2531881]

Taking a spin through my local woods today I found this:

They had their jump in the bombhole near the carpark flattened - could it possibly be because they dug like this? The cheeky berms further up the hill - fine, they've been done ok, but this is not the way to go about making jumps. Stuff like this is the reason why people drag fallen logs across the path, and generally make things difficult for MTBers - they are damaging the mountain bike community as a whole by doing stuff like this.

I personally think it's a disgrace. Or am I over-reacting?

THey done significant damage to the tree root network.

There's a great way to p1ss off the forester for the woodland.

I'd be tempted to go and knock all that back into the holes before it's found...seriously! Stuff like that would have the trails here shut down in no time at all.

Believe me, I'm headed back tomorrow with a shovel. Just shocks me that some people consider this acceptable.

are you sure that isn't a tank trap?
Is this on MoD land?
Are you expecting a Soviet invasion round your way?

Looks like that jump will send you straight into the tree as well ๐Ÿ˜• Unless it's a hip with a really small landing.

Don't you think your overreacting? Some kids built some shady jumps in the woods. Nothing new there. Give the kids a break they could be nicking your car or playing ganstas. A better approach might be to simply chat to them if you see them. They probably don't think they've done anything wrong. Nothing constructive will come from just knocking them down. They won't learn anything unless you actually speak to them.

I dont get where your meant to land surely your'll fall in the hole

I kinda agreed with you when you mentioned the tree routes but surely most roots will be deeper underground than just by the surface.

I does keep to be cleaned up though looks a mess.

Going back with a spade might be a good idea to clean it up but there are plenty of people who will be keen to knock it down doesnt really need MTBers helping them.
