was pondering this half an hour ago when swopping out a worn drivetrain. It's like a burny/chemically smell just as the bolts come free - I guess it's heat from either a little corrosion, or threadlock or whatever has bonded them in the 18 months or so they have been done up, being released ?
......or maybe it's just me ! ๐
definately ain't shite - bike is always clean when I am working on it !
it's pure, sweet VICTORY ๐
haha ! like that ๐
I didn't even scrape my knuckles for once either !
I know that smell. Just thought it was MTFU oozing out of the guns.
Ah, true - victory tinged with goreI didn't even scrape my knuckles for once either !
Someone once told me it was burnt ozone! Not sure if that's true or not...
Tiny sparks too!
Aluminium oxide dust.
dog sh1t? local tom cat?
I often get a whiff of gas....probably straining a bit much.
I get this when removing tight stuff: last smelt on removing a stubborn headset from a 6 year old frame (so I guess not just to do with threadlock then) , also old BB's out of old frames. Not sure if its grease plus heat (generated by friction/lots of power to remove tight thing) , or a lack of grease plus heat.
It's brimstone. Lucifer is always watching, trying to get some extra knuckle skin for his Rapha gloves.
