Todays excitement... I've had to replace my fork and the new one has no hole for the mudguard bracket to bolt to.

So are those hideous SKS Speedrockers the only option now? Or is there something slicker?

There's not a hole in the underside of the crown?

Speedrockers might not be pretty but they work well enough. Though not for the rider on your wheel.

If the steerer tube's open at the bottom, could a SFN be inserted to then bolt a mudguard to?

Nah, just a smooth carbon arch below the steerer.  Like this

Ah. It wouldn't be pretty, but simple cable ties securing the guard around the crown would probably work. I do similar with full-length guards on a carbon fork on my Cacade.

As ugly as the speed rockers are they work just as well as proper guards in my experience and are easily switched out for nice days or for cleaning.

I always add flaps to my guards so never had issues with those following.

These, or DIY from tyre packaging: https://rawmudflap.uk/

Raw flaps on a long ride? Ooh matron!

Cheers folks. I'll probably just get the speedrockers then. (and ride with my eyes closed 😀 )

Yeah I couldn't find anything better than Speedrocker XLs for my gravel bike over winter. I do find they can move a bit mid ride if you're doing a lot of rough trails but haven't caused me any issues (definitely use frame protection tape under the mounts though!)

Taken a punt on some Polisport ones. Very similar but £20 cheaper (Merlin). Only need front anyway and hate paying out for mudguards!
