Every time I see someone who posts a reference to the velominati rules, I think to myself 'you are a total sheep, incapable of independent thought'
So there.
That's tonight's lesson from Birney29.
Tune in tomorrow for more.
Is the lesson that you dont understand parodoy ?
I'm gonna hazard a guess that you have no aspirations to be a proper roadie
Just a roadie that can think for himself.
Are rule abiding roadies sheeple?
Sorry only came here because I heard sheep.
Sorry, carry on.
I see them as being written by people (Americans) with a love of the (European-based) sport and an appreciation of it's heritage, but mix the romance with a sense of the absurd.

Obey.
Do you have a picture of yourself so I can swoon hard and get hard at the same time?
Picture? Yes. Just google 'big handsome bastard'
That's me.
This thread has taken a baaaaaad turn.

funny, surfing on here with ITV4's 2012 TdeF Review on, just shown the stage where Wiggins stops the racing to allow Evans (beset by punctures from sabotage tacks) to catch up, then later the whole BMC team salute the other team cars as they pass them near the finish. Knock it and "doper" ridicule it all you want, but road racing is full of rules, etiquette, drama, honour and romance. The velominati guys get it, even if you don't.
The rules are piss take Shirley? For amusement purposes only, that's what I understood it to be.
There's no place for amusement in real cycling.
There is a big difference between the etiquette of racing and referring to some guide written by some guy when deciding what colour arm warmers to wear.
Rule 5 is the only one that is needed.
Says the man who took not post seriously.
Need to go sort out my outfit for the morning
Sky shorts with RadioShack top? Oh yes....
I have just bought the book. Its very funny and made me take the long route home and it was raining and I have not got to rule #5 yet.

In English?
Sky shorts with RadioShack top?
Fail, you should be wearing baggies to conform to your nonconformist idealogoy
Fret not, ill be wearing spd sandals.
Hippy douche ๐
There are some useful nuggets in the Rules. I love my cheapo road bike. Do I even remotely follow the bulk of the rules? Hell no. I hate stuffed jersey pockets. I like big bidons, my pump is on the frame and there are 10mm of spacers under my stem.
Its all riding bikes. And (I think) they are meant to be taken with a pinch of salt or some kind of post ride recovery mineral mix from a perfectly colour coordinated 500ml bidon taken from a minimalist carbon bottle cage - down tube only).
Rules is rules ..and dems da rules you MUST obey
You've just made me google spd sandals.. ๐ณ
I really like the site but I'm not a good follower of the rules. All this stuff about looking good or right bother me. I wear baggies on a road bike, I use MTB shoes and rule 71 is the most wrong rule in the world.
Every single ride, ever... is a race.
You will comply.
