Hi,
Does anyone know if we will be able to park in the layby (at the bottom of the sunken road) on the road from Chapel to Winnats if we are coming from Chapel. I know there are road works further on. Planning to start a ride from there next week, so would appreciate any info.
Thanks

I wouldn't have thought it was big enough for you to park there without causing an obstruction. Why not park at mam tor car park? you can nip round there via perryfoot if the road is closed. It'll warm your legs up too having a road blast AND you'll put some money back into the peak district pot.

What's your route?

Coming from the other side.
I mean the layby big enough to hold probably 6 cars (without causing any obstruction)on the left hand side of the road if you are driving towards winnats from chapel - past the chestnut centre. It is just before the turn off on the right to rushop hall (SK 091 824). We're going to head over towards Hayfield on the Pennine Bridleway (Roych Clough etc) Route long enough without any extra warm ups ๐Ÿ˜‰

Last time I was up there (a couple of weeks ago) they were using that layby to store some of the equipment they were using to mend the roads.

As Pook says, park at the Mam Tor car park. It's only 1/2 a mile down the road.

If you really don't want to pay you can park on the road below Mam Tor car park, there are quite a lot of spaces

I don't mind paying, but am a member of the national trust, so could park without paying at mam tor if I wanted - I was just trying to park the other side of the road works,as that is the side I am coming from. It's ok, changed the plan and riding elsewhere now, thanks.

You can Still access the layby at the Penine Bridleway Junction with Rushup edge. the actual road block starts at the road junction just above the Layby. HTH ๐Ÿ˜€
