Apperently the Polish prices are CHEAP.

So instead of 'how much duty from the US'?

Lets just buy direct from Poland?
😀

There are some cheap manufacturers but you will struggle to buy them online. Romet makes a nice 29er, ask Mieszko, and Dartmoor make some good stuff too. Prices are cheap for labour but not necessarily parts (loads of Taiwan produced stuff is).
If you need help, email me. As a native I find it way easier to speak Polish than most here 🙂
Riding is divine though, check Sudety, Bieszczady, Tatry or Gory Swietokszyskie for wild riding and cheap beer (seriously cheap).

Could be worth a look Hora...

The Polish might even fall for your tactic of ... "Please sell it to me cheap. I know that's the price, but I don't have that much money, but I do really want it, so can I just buy it for less?"

Gotta be worth a try 😉

Those Dartmoor ally frames are both very cheap and look great.

I especially like the two6player, designed around 80-120mm fork and £140 delivered!!!!!

I don't go there too often as my inlaws always insist on being visited. Besides, as I hate flying Ryanair and driving takes ages from Eire...
There was a bloke here from Ride Poland, talk to him. Places I go to aren't renown for speaking English, in fact it's either Polish or Polish.
I'd get RP to show me Gory Stolowe (Table Muntains), 75 miles from Wroclaw which is lively, stunning, tolerant and has all you might need/want including bike shops, mini brewery, gorgeous girls, great music scene and... Google are there. Fly with Ryanair, Wizzair, LOT, Lufthansa and others.

It all depends on the exchange rate, but most of the time prices work out very similar to what the retail price in UK is anyway. Second hand stuff is cheaper here than in Poland most of the time. I never bother to stock up when I'm home as it really is not worth it. You'll get the odd part that is cheaper for example an XT cassette with a HG93 chain for the price of a XT cassette here. Most bits new or second hand You can buy on www.allegro.pl, much bigger and more popular than eBay in Poland as they started it earlier. BUT most sellers stock up in Germany 🙂 NS Bikes are much cheaper in Poland as my fiancée's brother built a jump bike some time ago, so I know that the frames and bits are cheaper. There are other brands available like Kross and Romet that build good and reasonably priced bikes but they all get frames from Taiwan anyway. You can buy Radon bikes but they are German. What is probably worth mentioning is Mielec as they can build You a fully custom geometry frame for around £100-120, tubing choice is limited, not the best finish but sound and solid as again my fiancée`s brother ordered a fixie frame from them. Good way to check whether Your dream geometry would work in reality before forking out more for some posh brand. It's not as good as Hora thinks, You'll get a bargain once or twice but most of the time counting the shipping costs means that there is little to no saving and You have to wait to get Your order. I don't bother and just buy here.

What is great there it is the riding, good mountains and road riding to be had just from my doorstep. 6-8 mile road climbs. Proper DH and 4X tracks in Walbrzych. Most of the marathons are 30-40 miles from my house and the Czech border is only 20 miles for even more riding. If I'll be home for longer I might suggest a proper away ride for Edinburgh folk that I met on TBC rides. My mum has a big house with a big garden for bbq's, riding is good and beer is cheap.

If You know someone from Poland, rather than buy parts from there go and ride there.

Totally agree. When you go to Chorzow to see England play Poland in yet another WC qualifier (it's bound to happen) pop in to a little LBS in town where lads will build you a wheel and charge £10-ish labour. Otherwise just stick to beer, vodka, food and diesel.
