Anybody know when the new Scott Genius will be hitting the shops, and any thoughts on the new 27.5" wheel?

From what I've heard the new Genius is supposed to be excellent. They've slackened it which is about time, plus they've tidied up the shock too which is a bonus.

Sometime in September according to http://singletrackworld.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/2013-scott-genius-launch-650b-and-29-but-no-26/

Is this wheelsize going to be a fad?
I'm not sure I would want to spend £2K+, then a couple of years later struggle to find any decent tyres/rims.

Great idea, I've been saying for ages that I'd love a long travel Spark - and they've made it 🙂 The old genius had a very exposed shock, so glad that's changed.

My only concern after riding a DW-link bike is the brake squat and pedal strike I suffered at the hands of the Spark - brilliant bike, but hampered by a single pivot.

27.5 is a bike company's dream come true, . . .

So yes, give it a few years and we'll all be riding them, . . . you heard it here . . .

The rear shock doesn't actually suffer any dirt exposure issues on the Genius IME (I run a Mk2 and ran a Mk1), as it's a pull shock. The plastic fender on the EQ2 9and 3) shocks also gives further protection.

Whilst they may talk about dirt exposure issues, I guess the real reason they've switch to a standard shock is that it's cheaper to produce and lighter. Will also be easier to set-up, although the EQ2/3 are nowhere near as bad to get dialled-in as some reviews would have you believe...
