I think I may well have solved it, since the 24" Rocket Rons are nigh on impossible to get hold of, I was after a decent XC orientated tyre but of a decent width and weight.
I happened across the Maxxis Snyper 24 MTB, I ordered them from Bikester early in the week and they arrived today.
They look spot on, decent width and a treat pattern very similar to the Vittoria Barzo, also pretty light for a wire bead tyre, bit of a bargain at £15 each.
They'll be replacing the stock kenda small block 8's on mini-me No.1s crimbo pressie.
Got a pair of 24" Rocket Rons for sale if you want them for £500.
They're attached to an Islabike Creig 🙂
I'll even throw in the Conti's or whatever was on there when I bought it.
I bought a 24” Hutchinson Toro in Morzine this summer for my daughter’s bike.
Lots of the local hire bikes had them fitted.
It’s pretty good, nice open tread, not too heavy and gave her loads of confidence when I put it on the front.
It’s worth having a google for one...
I got a couple from amazon.fr few years back. never seen them again since. much better than the rocket rons.
Just put some of these on my sons bike for winter to replace the rocket Rons. Hans Dampf 24’s
