I'll help her remove the jeans so they don't get oily. She also needs proper high-heels.

I have heard tell of this - electric bikes for DHers. Assisted uplift essentially. Yet another marker post on the route to the Total Decline of Western Civilization as we know it, if you ask me...

The Future?

Or a possible distopian future?

I bet that could have been made far more efficiently and cost effectively Today and not in the 'Future'...
Instead its some ****ty Industrial designer's wet dream rather than a genuine attempt at making more accesible, sustainable transport for the masses, a wasted opportunity...

Her arse is alright, can't see why you lot are getting quite so worked up though...

That 9 tooth cassette thing is more interesting.

Wonder how much a new cassette costs? On that hope thing, the top few alu sprockets should be replaceable on their own I reckon.

Would be lovely for my Patriot, I could run double and bash and still have a good range of gears. Also good for XC racing because of fewer front shifts...

you could run 1x10 and have a pretty good range, lopping 2 teeth of the bottom of the cassette makes a massive difference to how tall you could go with a single 32t up front...

Its a bike for Judge Dredd! Awesome.

If they were for sale in London, people would defninitely buy them.

I find this no more ridiculous than 1500 quid suspension forks and 300 pounds cassettes displayed at Sea Otter and the like.

I'd be worried about chainlines with 1x10 as much as anything else.

Chain lines on 1x10 will be much the same as 1x9 possibly marginally better (same width cassette, slightly narrower chain)...
More of it will come down to crank Qfactor and chain guidance, all of which can be brought to the current "middle" ring position or slightly inboard without too much fuss...

Yeah but I also don't ride 1x9. I ride 3x9 and I don't use the two worst chain lines in any of the rings, so it's effectively 1x7 in each ring.

Well 1x9 works, I've got it on one of my own bikes, there's fair few other people I'm sure who do as well in one form or another...

On 3 chainring setups I tended to use the whole Cassette with the Middle ring 90% of the time anyway and that was back when I had 11-28t Cassettes, I'm not sure where you think this chainline issue comes from on 1x9 drivetrains? you might get a little rubbing on a chain device but that's not the same as a "Bad" chainline.

You could have 1x7 if you wanted, I think theres a few wider range 7spd cassettes available still (11-30 or 11-32 I think), in fact you've insprired me, I might look into doing just that on one of my bikes...

It's all relative of course these days I wouldn't dream of lugging about 3 chainrings when one or two serves all my... needs but, horses for courses as they say...
