After some cheap sturdy gloves for the spring/summer. Thinking about maybe a smidge of padding but not too much. Maybe a bit of something to keep the brambles of in the summer.
What does the forum like at the moment.
Under £20 preferred, under a tenner even better.

another vote for Fox Ranger.
Used to be TLD XC/Air, but had the last few pairs disintegrate very quickly.
Currently enjoying Fox Ranger!
Aldi ones.. cant remember what they are called tho.
Been using the £20 Dakine for a while. I prefer them to my older TLD
My TLD XCs fell apart in no time, they were cheap but not cheap enough imo.
Fox Sidewinders for me- very durable, comfy, maybe a little heavier duty than you're looking for but no real downside to it... The ranger might be a closer match for you though
Dakine Highwire fits the bill, very comfy & durable and has some padding on the knuckles.
Whatever TLD gloves in large CRC are flogging off.

Full fingered - 661 Raji
Mits - Endura FS260 with the aerogel pads. An odd one, because they only work with thin hard grips, a bit like a saddle and a chamois pad.
Aldi (Crane) MTB Gloves. £6.99, more comfortable, lasted longer, don't smell as bad as my previous Oakleys and 661 gloves.

I'm wearing some of these currently and they are doing a very good job. I have worn them for approx' 3 months since my last pair (not Crane) failed on a seam on the top of my RH thumb.
The Crane gloves have some padding on the palm/finger junctions, nice velcro closure at the wrist, strong fabric and well stitched together.
I can't fault them at the moment.
Another vote for the Aldi 'DefinitelyNotAnEnduraFullMonty' gloves, or troy lee xc when it is warm out.

Dainese rock solid - £20 in red. Almost a year old and only just showing signs of wearing through.

Hmm. IME, 'not too much padding' equals insufficient thorn protection.
All these gloves look super weedy to me.
Giro DNDs. Own three pairs now.
Lizard Skins Monitor 3, and the Aldi ones have been going well for me. I also find that Troy Lee xcd tend to wear out quite quickly.
Bicycle Union "Love / Hate" BMX gloves.
Lasted years, even on the commute.
I'm still on a pair of MT500s from s couple of years ago. I like the glove in many ways but detest the silly plasticcy/ rubber bits on the fingers. When you forget and wipe your face with the back of your hand it knacks and the one time I clipped a tree wearing them I'm sure it did more damage than good from the shape of the injury.
Favourite gloves ever is a toss up between Full Montys and 66 Raji. I'd probably go for the Montys again next time...
