some folk use disposable nappys to do the same thing, not particularly "green" though

swisstony is that wall tile and radiator combination known as "peppermint hypno candy stripe"?

and how ever high from the floor is it? I'm guessing its in a bathroom? above a bath perhaps?

mine just go on top of the hot water cylinder, still takes a couple of days to dry out though

Plenty of scuba diving people I know use similar ones to keep the inside of their drysuits dry when they're being stored - it's just silica gel (as you get in little packs in shoeboxes, luggage and the like).

Places that sell silica gel do similar sized packs, but at about half the price - eg. http://www.magichem.co.uk/sachets.htm
