What is it?
Are they similar events on a different scale?
I was planning to pay a visit the Cycle Show at NEC at the end of the month, but with the coverage on GCN of Eurobike, it looks like a lot of the things I would have wanted to gawk at were on display there.
Eurobike = Trade
Cycle Show = Retail
Judging by friends Facebook eurobike is just one massive traffic jam....
Not sure if the irony of them driving to a bike trade fair is lost in them....?
As far as eurobike goes, I think this year was the last with a public element, it's trade only from now on...
It was a massive traffic jam both in and out.
Eurobike is truly massive.
The Cycle Show really isn't.
Both are truely sh*t?

Well, I'll let you know after I've been. I used to love when my dad would take me to things like the automotive shows when they would come to my home town, so I'm looking forward to visiting the Cycle Show.
I don't mind suspending my cynicism for a day in order to admire the nice stuff, and enjoy some chatter about bikes.
I just hope the show includes elements that my kids will enjoy.
My experience at Eurobike, by the time the public days came around the exhibitors had survived 5 days of industry lectures, death by powerpoint, interactive workshops, the mincefest of clothing dance-a-thon and evening beer chugging...
Public days, most exhibitors I met wanted to go home rather than answer the same question a hundred times over... best thing was testing e-bikes on the track.
The only function was to "see and touch the precious things". Not a lot you could buy. Loads of stickers though!
If you haven't already bought a ticket, keep an eye on facebook as there should be freebies floating about. I know Madison Clothing are giving away some on their page at the moment.
Does anyone have a discount code that's valid for tomorrow? Thanks
Where would one get a discount code?
Anyway, I'll see you all there. I have my 'SaxonRider' badge on.
Just got back from Cycle Show and as ever it underwhelms. Few bits of nice kit to look at and a few bargains to be had but I was in and out in under 3 hours. Saying that, I was £200 lighter when I left.
If anyone wants a ticket for Sunday let me know. I have a couple of complimentary ones but the mate I got them for has gone to Wales this weekend instead.

Tickets have gone.
I used to love the Bike show back in the 90s before the internet when it was the only time you got to see these people actually moving. The bikes were really exotic too, LBSs didn't carry the sort of stuff they do now round my way, and you couldn't rock up to a trail centre car park and drool over £5k bikes.
I remember once bumping into a guy over Chasewater riding a brand new LTS Team with XTR V-Brakes, it was amazing to a 12 year old me.
