FFS £1.50 for powerlinks.

Ah - but is that for a Powelink or half a Powerlink?

I'm still getting things at prices I'm happy with.

Is it that there's the same amount of bargains but just a load more overpriced stuff from chancers as well?

Don't forget that quite a few people on here have changed their names when the forum was hacked and if I'm honest I'll only usually visit the forum on Fridays which is my work from home day.

I haven't been on this forum long and I admit I did guesstimate my prices on what I paid

BUT. . .

I HAVE NO CLUE ON WHAT THE MARKET IS LIKE FOR SECOND HAND PARTS SO I SAID I WOULD TAKE OFFERS.

whats fairer than that.

stating I dont know the value and putting a price because I have to by the classified rules.

I would rather everyone was more friendly with there comments instead of snide remarks and jokes etc.

I would like to fit into the forum talk to people about bikes and shift the stuff im not using!

im not trying to make money, just trying to reduce my loss and ultimately give customers a more affordable solution compared with buying retail.

Thanks

The most important thing to remember is that I have some brand spanking new carbon wheels that I'm selling for half price 😀

I guess this is linked to all the folks out there who buy stuff purely to trade, ie scoop the bargains then try their luck asking for more.

Might be onto something there, what with the credit crunch and all that.

Now we just need somebody to come along and blame Gordon Brown.

orange rider, by reducing the price of your items by £5 still dosent make them a bargain!

for instance i got a used king head set for £25 and a new (in the box) xt cassette for £25

£25 posted (paypal gift) as it's probably best for spares unless you have really low standards

Bearings are silky smooth, comes with everything but no star nut. Hardly ever see silver ones so I’m guessing they’re fairly rare, I have had this since new and has seen hardly any action as it was always on my second bike.

Can't really compare the two though can you?

The OP is becoming a stalker. I thought this thread was a general comment. Just let the guy get on with selling. Ok his prices might be out but he's accepting offers.

i find some people on here just dont like the fact that somthings cost more than they want to pay second hand, and that they have to police the forum like rabbid dogs no affence but most people that sell just want a good price for there ware's and as they say if it sell's it sell's if it dont then they either lower there price's or keep it.

shame there are so many police these days they just need to ride more that might carm them down 🙄

Errm so it's overpriced stuff-don't buy it after checking price on google.

There was a posting recently asking for the price of some 2nd hand wheels and what price should they be and some of the 'slaggers' who posted on this advert you're slagging reccomended 60-70% of the price new.

It's been half price and 10% for each year old.

If it's shoddy priced in Tesco do you go to Dixons instead or have a go at the manager?

Yes his crap was overpriced-don't buy it or just offer a lower price by mail.

this cost me 4 and a bit k but obviously with inflation, depreciation reduction and pork belly prices increasing in line with the value of titanium companies EBITDA and relative net debt ratio, its yours for only 5 grand, yes 5 grand i tell yer, buy it quick, it fits any of you no matter what size you are and you will win an world cup xc race on it if you combine it with a healthy diet and a vitamin b suppliment every day.
honest

Some stuff on the classifieds is overpriced - don't buy it. Simples Some is fairly priced - buy it without haggling.

On the overpriced stuff I will ask for a reduction to what I think fair - we either agree a price or we don't.

Its called market forces I believe.

'Yawn'.... why are you all moaning, as above, if you don't like the prices don't buy it, what does it matter?!? you can't get a deal all the time and you always have the option of buying new.

I've had countless good deals off of here and have also sold a lot at what I feel are reasonable prices. If it doesn't sell at the price stated you either drop the price or keep it.

Free trade is great aint it....

Used to post regularly, hadn't been on here for ages and recently re-joined...does that mean I have to do the zillion post rule or do my old posts under my old username still count? Can't see sense in minimum post rule - great if you have the time.
As for selling, I've sold a few things on here myself. I've had happy buyers and I've had silly offers & maybe I've listed some things at too high a price. I've had an offer that left only a few quid after postage for an item costing over £30 and which is barely used, I politely declined.
As for the increase in ads - have you seen the ebay fees lately? Listing fee, 10% final value fee, then another chunk of cash for the paypal fees (who include your postage charge in their calculation), then a fee to withdraw what they're happy to leave you with. On most items you're looking at about 15-20% of final value!
Point is, if people get what they want, at a price they are happy with, what's the problem?

yawn.

last time I checked no one held a gun to someones head making them buy overpriced stuff on an internet forum. you don't buy it. they don't sell it. they decide whether to keep hold of it, or reduce price.

I've had some bargains on STW, and have used it to get rid of stuff I don't need.

and old git, 2nd hand means second hand, not half price.. it's worth what someones willing to pay for it.

I don't think anyone on here posts on classified for altruistic purposes.

its a shame when stw mk1 crashed we didn't lose the scrouges and moaners too and that old custom road bike (1996 build frame)for £600 was kitted out with new salsa rasta kit some really lush parts and brand new ultegra kit shame some people cant keep from posting troll threads of hate and grow up 🙄

Yeah but cannondaleking, an unbranded 4310 cromo frame is worth bugger all, add some random used bits (ven some older Ultegra)and it might be worth £250, at £600 you'll be waiting forever to sell it, or for a moron with no clue to buy it. I guess a part of the moanng serves a purpose in that it educates the morons a bit hopefully?!

You like the word police don't you?! I'm not arsed either way, it hasn't sold, several people feel it is overpriced, but good luck to you. The old adage it's only worth what someone else is prepared to pay is very apt.

FFS.....how many times has this been discussed? ****in loads that's how many.

If some knobber want's to post an ad with ridiculous prices then let them. They just won't sell. The biggest pain in the ass I think is that popular ad's disappear off the bottom of the forum in a couple of hours and the ad's forum fills up with ad's for overpriced tat.

If the forum returned to the old practice of ad's that were responded to went back to the top and the practice of "bumping" ads was not allowed then the tw4ts who post ridiculous ad's will get the message that overpriced stuff doesn't sell. Also there should be a limit to how many times you can repost the same ad....an ad for a Planet X Hammerhead springs to mind.

I've sold a lot of stuff on here and given away a fair amount too where it's not worth selling and someone needs it and it's just lying in my spares box never to be used.

Putting controls on any forum can be dangerous and very limiting to those that want to sell their stuff so STW shouldn't be too draconian or people will stop using it and it's worth bearing in mind that the person who joins to sell some kit may just become a worthwhile member of our community so we should put them off too much or this will end up a site with the same old names and the site will eventually pass into history.

Just my rambling thoughts before my ride today.....if it stops raining

Quite right, those same old names who think they own place and spend more time on here than actually riding their bikes that they talk up so much.

Funny how it's those same old names who always seem to be the ones moaning about how 'it's not like it used to be' and 'I prefered it when it was only me and two other people here because I had higher odds of winning the petty arguements that I started cos my life is so empty.....' 😕

Bit far maybe, but get over it........

I can't see why wanting to have a discussion automatically makes you a "moaner" who needs to be policed.

STW is a small, discrete comunity, it's not ebay. Its where like minded entusiasts would sell things sensibly to other likeminded people.

The "discussion" and not a "moan" is the present tendency of non community minded people seeking to impose their values on selling overpriced tat, on people to whom the forum is a community.

Anyone can try to sell overpriced tat,its their product, but the "discussion" is that is STW, a small, closed community the right place, for these "outsiders" to come in, add nothing, and not uphold the commnity "ideals"?

"Why can't the idiots use ebay like everyone else?" seems to be the unspoken sentiment, given their ads interfere with the people who want to do a like minded cyclist a "deal".

I don't think raising these issues makes you a moaner, but to be honest, STW ads are free, and appear to be being abused by people who are not community minded, looking to effectively "rip off" those who are. I don;t think thats a bad thing to discuss.

I just get right in with an offensively low counteroffer 😉 works more often than you'd think, and since the original ad's so silly you tend to get very little competition.

isn't a a4 avant with roof bars an ideal mtb vehicle? I thought it was when I bought it and untill we bought our van as a second vehicle which is purely for MTB'ing it was fantastic.

Get 4 bikes on roof or 4 bikes in back- comfy, quick and safe?

For the record Avant = estate

C*ck
