So I can ride OK (mostly) however this isn't about absolute skill.
I often find that I am refusing on stuff I've ridden before, sometimes do stuff without thinking that makes me wonder if I've lost my grip on self preservation and sometimes ride in a way that leaves me feeling like I've never ridden a bike before.
Like a lot of people at my best I'm not too shabby and really enjoy riding like that however I'm often not at my best.
So any tips for maintaining a positive mindset that let's you ride at your best and keeps the "I'm gonna crash" demons away?
Have a look at something before you ride it. And think about what line you're going to take, and how you're going to take it. Then do it.
I know exactly what you mean.
I was chasing one of my riding mates down magic mushroom at Glentress, I knew that there was a small double over some roots but wasn't sure where it was, he hit it first and I just followed, landed fine with a nice wee jump. But we thought we would go back and try it again and once I knew where it was I managed to ****** it up!!
I think as you say is to try and get a positive view on it. I find that I have to properly prepare myself, I tend to look at what I am planning on doing, pick my root and try and compare it to something I have done before. Then only once I am ready will I hit it. I tend to get myself into a mind set of saying to myself that it is an easy thing I am about to do and am just wimping out, which may not be the best thing to do, ha.
this may sound odd but,
i imagine it in my head first, if i can picture myself doing it i can do it. if i can't see a line in my head then i usually cant.
