Pains me to say it, but that new Lapierre Zesty looks really good. Sounds like they've made some positive changes, without ruining what is a massively popular bike round these parts

Do you live in Surrey by any chance? Stunning bike and components, I see they've stuck with the R1s, not heard much about Hutch tyres though.

The review seems to suggest that with a fork and shock change you can convert it to a Spicy?

When the OST+ was first announced they said it could be converted to 160 mm travel with a change to the shock shuttle and shock. Not sure that makes it a Spicy though, I would assume the Spicy frame is beefed up and has bolt-through rear doesn't it?

Looks very nice. Odd that although 3x10 was 'right for the hilly terrain' it ought to go for 2x10 to keep up with progress. WTF? That's just bollox surely. It either works or it doesn't!

transapp agreed. Its not a question of keeping up with technology more depends on what you ride. The article contradicts its self as they also found for steep hills the 3 x 10 setup was best. Used both and both have their place.

Says more about the writer I think than the bike.

Zesty 160mm travel sort of Spicy light is an attractive option. Been lusting over Spicy 916 for euro holidays. Been on demo bike for an afternoon. Crushes everything on the trail! The Zesty is the UK weapon of choice though.

There's a Zesty 714 in my local Evans, it looks VERY nice - have to say I'm seriously tempted. Proper size wheels, full complement of gears for those of us who like climbing, decent amount of travel without being massively overkill.

Had mine for over two years. Cant fault it really. Equally at home on trans alps, Spain, Italy and UK. Light, fast down and up. If I got a new bike it would be another Zesty.

I just wish they'd do a frame only option so I can upgrade from my 2009 alu one and save a bit of weight ๐Ÿ™

The front triangles are exactly the same between 2012 zestys and spicys, but the rear is a little bit beefed up on spicys, getting 142x12 rear axle instead of 135x10. So you can create both bikes just by changing shocks, but suppose the rear end wouldn't be quite as stiff if you converted from zesty to spicy. My 2010 zesty is still going strong too, I love it!

Do they do a 29er version like?

I have no idea why you'd want a 29" version?? it's perfect as a 26 thanks ๐Ÿ˜‰

Mines now fully XTR throughout, with Carbon bars, so it's only a lacking some better wheels to match the 914 (which tbh i should have probably just splashed out for in the first place ๐Ÿ˜‰
