£2 for 18 months of puncture repairs sounds OK to me.

I quite often open em up in the shop and fill one with loads of patches. £1.99 for 73 patches aint too bad....

Yup, some call it shoplifting, I prefer to think along the lines of market driven pricing, ie, the customer ultimately dictates the price. I think 73 patches for 1.99 is about right.

You used to be able to peel the labels off meat as well, nice big rump steak with a streaky baon sticker...... 😯

I something similar in Lidls - they had 1 pair of cycling glasses left and a pack with no glasses, just lenses. So I stuck the spare lenses in with mine. £2.99

Then. I lost the glasses. So I've got 8 useless lenses. Doh.

The pricetags betweent the 4 led torch and 1 led torch are interchangable, the till staff dont know any different, as most are foreign.

Edinburgh Bicycle Co-op:
9 pathces (, glue, sandpaper, a little rubbery tube) = 99p

What is the little rubbery (yellow) tube for?

James - 9 pathces? What do you use them for? Is it something exclusive to the Scots? Can you get them in England aswell?

Matt

I think the yellow tube might be something to do with repairing 'Woods valves' that were common before Presta and Schrader.

midnighthour - you are correct about the Woods valves. They had a little length of rubber tube to act as the non-return valve. Cant remember the last time I actually saw one on a bike - probably abot 30 years ago when I was a kid 🙂

AndyP - I recently got 4 punctures in 10 yards after dropping onto some rocks with relatively low tyre pressure - double snakebites!

I'm tempted by snakebites method - damn tescos for making a fortune yet being stingy as hell on patch content, even halfords £2.50 ones came with 6 or 8 IIRC!

A few years ago I bought a big square of patch material from Halfords from which you cut your own patches; still have loads left.

Hmm 10 for 1.50 (when i have loads of glue left) seems like a bargain, but it is sort of buying into the tesco ploy which frustrates me. Thogh I suppose it is essentially a 13 patch kit for £3.5 which is good value.

What? woods valve rubber? They must be the oldest stock pucture kits in the world! You can't even use that on woods valves now as they have built in rubber seals.

Best puncture kits are Rema tip tops, they actually stick for good.

Never had a patch come off yet, and leeches are my favourite (work a treat, simple, no messing etc) but I'm a cheapskate now I have more bikes (and therefore punctures) than ever before!
