OK when my Border Terrier get's tired from running/trotting near me on the bike he rightly sits down and won't go any further.
Please show me the best way to get him to stay put if I make something for my rear or front pannier for him to go into and so he won't fall or jump out.
Silly photos are ok but serious ones will be more than useful, what do you do/use?

I cut a side 'viewing' hole into the side of my ortlieb messenger bag for my mini Yorkie-X. He pokes his head out and can see, so he's nice and calm, then I can clip him into the inside structure of the bag and do it up. Very secure, plus he's nice and safe if I tumble (it's happened..)
Works well for late night commutes in London too.. all the girls love it!
My BT used to wear a harness and if he slowed a bit I would reach down and scoop him up, sit him on my knee for a bit till he got his breath back then put him back down. All without stopping. ๐
Fatty McTavish, my old Westie-Jack Russel cross, became quite adept at balancing on my shoulder for a lift. Only needed a hand to steady him occasionally.
That's what I did with old Lab when she cut her feet at Hamsterley with about 6 miles left to go, luckily she was fit then so only weighed 3 stones. She kept perfectly still all the way back to the car.

We do big miles.
Must be my last Border use to go out with us up to he was about 10 and do 30+ miles. Might as well took him to the bottom of the street and back the good it did and he'd gladly go again the next day. Was always better on grassy or boggy rides, fire roads or rocky trails killed his feet and he'd stop regular.
Same with the Lab but she had to stop at 2 years old because she got hit by a car when out for a walk, he metal work stopped her doing big miles.
Tazzy, were they your Tyre tracks I saw out by the dog sled track on Saturday. I thought it was a stray fat tyred segway from go ape! ๐
