What do you do to keep your forks from having to be sent to the likes of mojo (nothing against them, except my pocket)

whats your post ride routine?

Do the servicing yourself, clean the crap off after a muddy ride and cycle them with some lube on the uppers then put the bike away.

Wash bike after most muddy rides, try not the cycle fork until they're clean. Small amount of Teflon spray around the wiper seal, cycle once wipe away dirt from stantions, put away...Occasionally check air pressure, away for a service once a year.

My fork service routine

Clean and use Brunox Deo fork lube.*

*Even though this product works well, it can be seen as a bit "poncy" using dedicated fork lubes. 8)

fork juice is good, you can actually feel it reducing the stiction on new forks too. dont jet wash/ hose the seals either!

Other than cleaning them, oh and maybe a bit of lube every 6 months or so when I can be arsed. Magura forks for me 😀

I fix bikes for a living, I can never be bothered to fix my own.

Fox forks, years old, no sign of wear. All I do is clean the bike, drip a little finish line stanchion lube on them, cycle them a few times and then hand the bike up on the wall (which helps keep the top bush wet).

I do sometimes take mine to bits just to see what the guts look like. Apparently it's called "servicing" but it's really just to satisfy my curiosity.

Wipe stanchions, apply suitable lube, bump til no more black ring appears, put in garage. I've never serviced my Revs properly, I guess they're due now but they don't seem to mind.

Tad of oil round stanchions - pump the forks vigorously then wipe off the dirt ring with a cloth.

Thats it. I most certainly dont use a car wash either.

No choice buying Fox as they came with the bike.

Clean stanchions & seal area - dry off if I have a suitable clean cloth to hand. Bounce a few times & from now on probably store upside down in the shed.
The last bit is a pain, becuase I'm sure i read that Avid Elixirs don't like being stored upside down......

When I said -1, I meant both my forks are Fox and both are still running perfectly and not worn in the slightest.
I also have a Toyota on my driveway.

For all those congratulating themselves on owning worse performing forks that are supposedly more reliable then Fox.

Here's my Pikes after less than a year's use.

[img] [/img]

My maintenance routine is now to wipe down the stanchions and spray with fork juice. That's about it. My Fox forks haven't exploded yet.

my pikes had a wear spot smaller than that after 5 years hard use, with just wipe downs, so you must have been really unlucky grum. How come you didn't warranty them?

Saying that I have just ordered some new forks and will be checking the oil levels from new, as that what seems to do them in.

Tell me about your post ride fork maintenance routine

Honestly? I get back in from a ride and chase my girlfriend round the house... meanwhile the thick caked-dirt is drying firmly on the neglected bike.

Dunno just couldn't be arsed with the hassle I suppose. I assumed they would argue I had abused them or not serviced them often enough or something.

It gave me an excuse to buy the Fox 36s anyway and they are miles better 🙂

I clean the forks off with a low pressure hose then do the seals with a wet sponge, dry them off and use fork juice - it's excellent stuff. I also didn't buy Fox 😉

This thread has prompted me...
What are the generic names for the products Mojo refer to as
"Float fluid" and "Fox suspension fluid".
