[#7647646]

So our daughter is approaching 1 and loves her trike but having purchased a Weeride we're keen to take her out on some family bike rides so she can share the fun. However whilst she is a big mini toddler her head measures 42cm at the last check about 3 weeks ago. Most of the helmets we've seen appear to start at 44cm.

Has anyone got any recommendations for helmets for little people with small heads? Otherwise we may have to go down the route of better safe than sorry and hold off going for that first ride rather than having a ill fitting helmet.

Our daughter also has a small head but we managed to get one that didn't fit too badly from decathlon when she was 14 months old. It was November so we just bulked it up with a thin hat underneath to make it a perfect fit. Not ideal but the best we could do and she soon grew into it

Toys r us do good ones for tiny heads, secure quick tensioning fitments etc, 15 quid or so. They go smaller than halfords ones etc

Specialized small fry with a hat underneath was the answer for our then 11 month old daughter. Same design as youth/adult helmets with the tension band so you can nip it up so its just right.

IMO This time of year little ones need a hat under the helmet anyway.

I have a one year old son and I was wondering what would be a good brand? Those that have matching shoulder and knee pads would be nice as well. ๐Ÿ˜€

Acidchunks we'd been looking at the spesh small fry helmet but just got a little concern due to the 44cm starting sizing. But seems like the consensus is to pop a hat on their head under the lid which does make very good sense.

I can start to plan her first outing!!! Follow the dog at Cannock????

Specialized Small Fry here too. My youngest was/is tiny and pretty sure it fitted here OK at 1. She still wears it now and is nearly 4 as she doesn't seem to have grown much!!

We got a Lazer P'Nut helmet after trying on a few different ones. It has a lightly spring loaded RocLoc type retention system so it automatically adjusts for head size as is easy to get the right fit. Fitted our wee man from 9 months although I think he has a pretty big neep.
They also come in nice designs with extra cover shell (with different design!) to keep wind and rain out.
