[Closed] Team Revelations - not sagging after ALL +ve air removed?!

Now, as far as I can remember, all the other sets of Pikes and Revs I've owned would have completely sagged once all the positive pressure was removed. I'm setting up some Team Revs (2011 I think) and with all air removed from both chambers, they are still at 150mm travel and take quite some effort to compress (and wont compress 100%).

I dont really understand this. Adding negative air will suck them down a bit, but again, not completely. If I put in the usual 80psi I use for my weight, they are solid and wont compress more than a cm or so.

They are performing OK, just felt a bit stiff so I decided to fettle a little. The flood gate is fully open and the lock out ISNT on!

So, what's up?!

RS not compressing normally means oils got out the bottom of the damper in the right leg into the lower leg.

How did they look when you last serviced the lowers?

But then you say they're performing ok...?

Service was fine, normal job of just cleaning up and adding lube to lowers. They have worked out, just felt stiff, then surprised to find that there was only 50psi of positive air ( I would have put in 80 after the service).

If they're anything like mine (air U-turn Team) they'll have leaked air into the lower left hand leg. If you undo the foot not and knock the spring rod free (as if you were going to remove the lowers), you'll probably get a "pssht" of air coming out, and they'll start feeling like proper forks agin when they're back together.

Mine are about to go to TF to be converted to coil. I'm utterly fed up with having to constantly faff around with them.

Only other thing that would do that then is if the air volume on the +ve chamber is reduced somehow. Too much oil/crap or the sliding piston thingy between + and - is stuck, though I don't see how.

Personally I'd just take them apart for a quick look-see, assuming you know what you're about inside some forks.

Thanks Jon, spot on! I love STW.

10mm socket, wrench and rubber mallet, everything sorted now.

Any idea how this happens though, would like to avoid it again in the future?

cheers!

Ah should have thought of that, it happens to boxxers too.

If you have the left leg apart (you'll need circlip pliers) it'll be one of the o-rings on the plunger bits is worn I imagine.

Thanks IA, I've had trouble with these forks since I bought them (new, off ebay....). Shouldnt have worn yet, but I'll take them apart and rebuild next week.
