I don't think i have ever know a grand tour where nearly every single minute of every stage has been raced liked a loon... you usually get those dull sprinter stages that are exciting for last 10km... this has been madness, even the stages they probably expected to be quieter have interesting attacks and a narrative such as Cort going on a personal home jolly..

Nice gesture, but also cunning psychologically - Vingo would not have been able to stay away to the finish, and it now makes it much harder for Pog to stick the knife in perhaps.
It might have made it impossible for Pog to zoom off if Vingo now fell on the descent, but that's about it. I really doubt however that that was any part of the decision. It just didn't look like that

No, sorry, I don't think that played any part in Vingo's thought process, I was just suggesting that it was an unintended consequence.
