He forgot to take out the nose plugs apparently! See various Team Sky riders' twitter feeds.

He forgot to take his nose plugs out apparently. While warming up, riders stick swabs soaked in Olbas oil or Vicks up their noses so when they get to the line, they whip them out and psychologically at least, can breath more deeply.

So @chrisfroome was do excited to ride off the start ramp, he forgot to take out his cotton wool nose plugs before the start today!
