Was going to ask for the ETA at the top of Maidens but from the latest posts I suspect it's "never"...
Top of maidens will be about 7.45-8 if we make it.
With my responsible hat on i dont think it a good idea to drag 10-20 people around soggy hills...
No reason why not except folk being soft! However I had persuaded Mrs TJ to come out to play so we could take the tandem - but I bet she finds some excuse!
Edit - Email from Mrs TJ
I think I may be about to bow out or go on strike or something - weather looks absolutely foul!
ruddy softies!

My plan was to arrive at the top of Maidens early to recover my breath before the additional bit of uphill on the quad track round Maidens. As I'm usually already knackered at the top of Maidens then doing that bit as well, without stopping for a rest, usually involves a bit of pushing.
Waiting at the top of Maidens for long in the current conditions will probably result in exposure though!
Not gonna make it this week again chaps - Olds for tea! Would far prefer getting soaked through up the pentlands.... I'm serious!
Hope you have a goodun whatever you end up doing!
Cheers.
Thomo.
Cask & Barrel route sounds good to me.
Meet 6pm at the Shoppe, first orders 6:05pm.
Incidentally, TJ's route would make a good night ride, too....? A possibility for the winter months. Winter miles Summer smiles and all that.
Its a bit dull as a night ride - you don't get the scenery but the shore path bit is good in the dark.
Useless softies!
Bunch of wussies! TJ I'm up for a proper ride. Anyone else
I'm not scared of a bit of rain so reckon I'll be out in the Pentlands tonight. Might well end up sticking under the trees as much as I can though.
Visibility down to under a mile now and drizzling

Just been let down on an Inners/3B ride tonght ๐
What time are people riding tonight? Not interested in going to a pub first, am available anytime from about 6:30pm.
Not too nice out there! Visibility way, way under a mile in the foothills. Have fun y'all.
I'm up for a proper ride. Where are people meeting?
bunch of drunks!
I will be at Bonaly corner shop at about 7pm, will head off shortly afterwards. No idea on what route I will be taking so happy to follow someone elses route if people come along.

TJ, are you meeting at the shop at 6 or heading straight for Bonaly at 7?
rains off here in E.lothian and mist clearing inland,i.e. at my house,so you may get a dry ride up the toon...

see you all next week hopefully...
P.S.. 24th july (week on saturday) is the airshow here at East Fortune, ride out from my house for 11am for a loop around East Lothian via Garltons and along river tyne then if a nice day park up and be buzzed by planes turning overhead on north side of Pencraig Hill, or if weather iffy back to my house to watch out the man cave..trees were flapping about last year as the Vulcan flew over!, will post a thread for numbers if enough interest..all invited ๐ฎ
ahhhjrene - MemberTJ, are you meeting at the shop at 6 or heading straight for Bonaly at 7?
Neither. Sorry.
Bruce - I'd join you if it weren't for the beach bit!
(Could do something out your way more trail than beach if you could be persuaded?)
Balerno check - it's just started raining again, heavy. Mist here too so enjoy the ride
As, to my surprise, you seem to be using my route I suppose I had better turn up. What is start time at C and B? I am unlikely to be there much before 7.
ok Andrew twist my arm...spin around Tyningham woods inluding the secret trail above coast, start from house via binning woods then along to seacliff and sherrif hall wood if you want, anyone else welcome, 7pm kick off?
Cheers Bruce - see you 7pm at yours!
OC - be there about 6.30ish.
Bunch of softies eh? You ain't seen us sink the pints then...
Jolly good.
Bunch of softies? I got wet enough hauling ass around the mud and rain of 10@K on Saturday - still have mud in my crack to prove it if you wanna look.
Having said that it was fun and wouldn't mind a wet muddy ride on the back of it, but pints it is.
You guys are so lame.
can't make it. both bikes currently not in service. Really annoyed I can't ride as I want a leg loosener after 10 @ Kirroughtree. ๐

Wet but enjoyable anyway. Didn't see any TBC/STW riders but saw a couple of pairs at the top of Maidens (one heading across Bells Hill and down into White Cleugh - hope they brought their swimming gear) and also a big group (almost certainly the ERC folks as there were lots of lady riders) heading up Maidens as I headed back down.
Good effort, I've given up trying to divert a torrent of water from my back door. I live on top of a hill! Heaven knows what its like in the toon

video of a wet Maidens Cleugh this evening!
Very unusually for me (possibly even unique) it even includes quite a lot of other bikes!
Three of us kept the flag flying / candle burning in East Lothian; Coastkid, Stanfree and myself had two and a bit hours of riding trails between East Fortune airfield and the coast to the East - a good mix. A good ride as pretty much flat, but some cracking woodland singletrack.
Last half hour was in very heavy rain...
Innerleithen was quite incredibly wet
But still brilliant, hope you guys had a good ride.
the beer in the pub was good. I got soaked riding there and back

Was a good wee run out tonight and unexpected seeing as I was supposed to be working till 7.45 . The last 4 -5 miles through the woods and roads were a blast to say the least helped by the amazonian downfall. Those woods lend themselves well to nightrides in the winter.
where i am found lurking through the dark months paul!...
Sneaky run through the Queen's back garden for me, then the pub via this weeks epic TBC route... Prestonpans 80/- FTW
respect due to pentlands, tweed valley and east lothian folk actually properly riding bikes.
cheers folks ๐
Ow.
Aparently the big group heading up to Maidens as I was coming down were from an all-ladies club who're also doing ride-outs starting from Bonaly on a Wednesday evening. Wonder if that will boost the TBC/STW turnout even further? Of course they were man enought to actually go mountain biking in a little bit of rain, unlike the TBC/STW crowd...
I did notice a lot of ladies in the group but given my glasses were just as wet as the GoPro lens I hadn't noticed that they were all women!
