Was going to ask for the ETA at the top of Maidens but from the latest posts I suspect it's "never"...

Top of maidens will be about 7.45-8 if we make it.

With my responsible hat on i dont think it a good idea to drag 10-20 people around soggy hills...

No reason why not except folk being soft! However I had persuaded Mrs TJ to come out to play so we could take the tandem - but I bet she finds some excuse!

Edit - Email from Mrs TJ

I think I may be about to bow out or go on strike or something - weather looks absolutely foul!

ruddy softies!

My plan was to arrive at the top of Maidens early to recover my breath before the additional bit of uphill on the quad track round Maidens. As I'm usually already knackered at the top of Maidens then doing that bit as well, without stopping for a rest, usually involves a bit of pushing.

Waiting at the top of Maidens for long in the current conditions will probably result in exposure though!

Incidentally, TJ's route would make a good night ride, too....? A possibility for the winter months. Winter miles Summer smiles and all that.

Its a bit dull as a night ride - you don't get the scenery but the shore path bit is good in the dark.

I'm not scared of a bit of rain so reckon I'll be out in the Pentlands tonight. Might well end up sticking under the trees as much as I can though.

Bruce - I'd join you if it weren't for the beach bit!

(Could do something out your way more trail than beach if you could be persuaded?)

As, to my surprise, you seem to be using my route I suppose I had better turn up. What is start time at C and B? I am unlikely to be there much before 7.

Bunch of softies? I got wet enough hauling ass around the mud and rain of 10@K on Saturday - still have mud in my crack to prove it if you wanna look.

Having said that it was fun and wouldn't mind a wet muddy ride on the back of it, but pints it is.

Wet but enjoyable anyway. Didn't see any TBC/STW riders but saw a couple of pairs at the top of Maidens (one heading across Bells Hill and down into White Cleugh - hope they brought their swimming gear) and also a big group (almost certainly the ERC folks as there were lots of lady riders) heading up Maidens as I headed back down.

Three of us kept the flag flying / candle burning in East Lothian; Coastkid, Stanfree and myself had two and a bit hours of riding trails between East Fortune airfield and the coast to the East - a good mix. A good ride as pretty much flat, but some cracking woodland singletrack.

Last half hour was in very heavy rain...

Was a good wee run out tonight and unexpected seeing as I was supposed to be working till 7.45 . The last 4 -5 miles through the woods and roads were a blast to say the least helped by the amazonian downfall. Those woods lend themselves well to nightrides in the winter.

Aparently the big group heading up to Maidens as I was coming down were from an all-ladies club who're also doing ride-outs starting from Bonaly on a Wednesday evening. Wonder if that will boost the TBC/STW turnout even further? Of course they were man enought to actually go mountain biking in a little bit of rain, unlike the TBC/STW crowd...

I did notice a lot of ladies in the group but given my glasses were just as wet as the GoPro lens I hadn't noticed that they were all women!
