[#4090653]

got some fox with a tapered steerer today (from Orange) - installed a King crown race today and it was tight for 99% of the installation,

when seated all the way to the bottom the crown race freely spins

will this be an issue or will it be fine when i tighten the SFN?

cheers

๐Ÿ˜ฏ I would have though it will kill the steerer over time.

What was the crown race made of,and how did you put it on?
Does a sealed bearing sit on top of it?
The only crown I have seen slack is one of these

Hmmm. I don't like the sound of that. Over time it will move about and score the steerer I'd have thought. I doubt the sort of pressure you put into a SFN will squeeze it tight onto the steerer, especially being a steel crown race. I'd be less worried out a split race as that could be squeezed tight.

is it a case of king being spot on with the taper measurements and fox just being near enough?

seeing as this is from the king website

Baseplates with undersize bores of up to minus .2mm (-.008") are also available to accommodate

guess i need one of them?
