Trying to fit a tapered fork to my frame and the taper seems to go too far up the steerer tube so it won't fit.
Headtube is 95mm deep and uses drop in integrated bearings.
Am I going mad or is this a known issue?
Frame is a Cube Elite Super HPC and the fork is a 2012 RS SID XX.
From what I've heard there is no set standard for taper length, so problems of this sort can occur.
Measured it an the Taper is over 10cm long?!! That's massive.
Why have such a long tapered section on a fork likely to be fitted to carbon frames with integrated bearings? Plain daft. Looks like alternative fork time.
Anyone know the taper length on Fox F100's?
Check cane creek's website and see if they do an external headset that would work for you?
that might push the stack height long enough to fit your forks?
I think small sized On-One frames have a similar problem too.
Thanks for the advice. I don't think an external headset will work though as the headtube is all carbon and takes drop in 45 degree bearings rather than press fit cups.
Ah sorry miss read your original post.
Yep I think different forks or frame are the only options.
