In a bid to retain some biking opportunities this summer I want to get a tag-a-long for my eldest son. What do you lot recommend?

I recommend not having any kids and being free to ride whenever you want. 😆

Does he have a bike already? Get a towbar style affair, I got one for ny npehew and it's great. I can tow him on the roads and so on to the park, he can bugger aroundon the B<X track, then when he's knackered I can tow him home. Trailgators can be had for around £50 at the moment I htink

I got a Trail Gator this year that works pretty well on the roads and smooth tracks - not tried it offroad but considering trying parts of the Glentress blue with it. It's a bar that lets you attach the kids bike onto the back of yours.

The good thing is you can quickly unhook it to let them ride on their own for a bit.

Reading around there are some very mixed reviews, but I've found it to be solid and easy to use.

Ive got a trailgator that isnt used anymore, they are great and give you some freedom to ride on your own abit, if its flatenough for the child to ride. The gator has a bracket that fits behind your rear qr clamp to clip the bar to when not in use.
I was going to put mine on here for £30 posted if you interested.
Still have box and fittings.

Other than the TrailGator, they're all much of a muchness. Things to look out for are:

* How adjustable is the saddle height.
* Can the bars be rotated closer to the child when they're a bit on the small side.
* Do you want to run gears? We didn't for my daughter because I thought it was simpler for her. However, it means that over a certain speed, they can't really contribute to forward motion.
* Mudguards - front and rear. They get really splashed from your back tyre.
Cornering - a bit like a truck, the third wheel tracks closer to the kerb / bridge wtc so make sure you take a nice, wide line (our favourite was hitting the bars off canal bridges) 😳
* Oh - and how good is the clamp? It's worth looking at a couple to see how they compare.

We've actually got one sitting around the shop if you want to have a nosey. It's an Adams geared one with mudguards.
