Need to replace rings on a M970 chainring and not happy at getting ripped by current Shimano pricing - bought XT for price of XTR big ring before! Anyone using TA rings as replacement for Shimano? Appreciate feedback on shifting and durability please.

Why settle for second best?

Dibbs - Now let me think about that!

Looking for something to keep me running through winter and whilst waiting for the prices to drop. Agreed can't beat XTR. Normally not bother with replacement rings - just go for the full crankset and flog what I don't need - cheaper that way.

Would SLX fit - still Shimano but seem to look very similar to XTR fit???

not on xtr but i'm using TA chinook 104bcd rings on XT cranks as a double 28/40, they fit and work very well indeed.

I would say they are not quite as strong and possibly dont shift quiet as good as new xt but i'm very happy with them, been using them all winter in all sorts of crap and no issues.
