Hi,
Ive managed to get some time off work so im heading down to the vallys for 3 or 4 days of xc/am riding.

Question is where do i go?

Looking at Coed y Brenin, Afan, Cwncarn, etc but not sure as they're all trail centres. Basically looking for some pretty sweet, quite difficult but fun singletrack. Im not looking for 20mile slogs, more like nice climb and epic decent.

Cheers,
Stuart.

you've summed it up quite well there,
cwmcarn tricky climb but a great reward on the down, has a great flow to it,
afan multiple trails, whites up at glyncorrwg is my fav out of the lot,
never been to coed y brenin

Yep another vote for Whites here, my favorite man made trail in South Wales.
Closely followed by Cwmcarn at 9ish miles, I think whites is pretty much the same distance to.
Rode Brechfa over Christmas, Gorlech trail which was ok, as Raven was closed. A bit to far out from anything else in my opinion.

If you like a good technical climb, Cwmcarn will certainly meet your criteria.

South Wales or North Wales? They're not exactly close together

If your going to be heading down from north to south and are looking for something with a great descent after a not too bad climb then you'ed do well to call in at Machynlleth and ride the ClimachX trail. It's about 5 miles north, near Corris...the trail is around 15k total and the final descent is around 4k.

Don't expect any kind of trail centre though...stock up in Mach'
