Has anyone been over Swinley in the last few days? just wondering what state the trials are in for a potential blast tomorrow...

If It's wet take spare brake pads. That stuff is like grinding paste.

Ta, looking rubbish out there at the moment, think I'll just do a local xc blast if there's a break in the weather or crack out the mudguards 🙁

has anyone actually worn a set of pads after 1 ride at swinley? if so incredible..

anyhow - it is very wet there which I not at all surprising given the weather.

There are always the sealed trails, Whole Nine Yards, Stickler, Seagull etc for when it is really cut up.

Ran in there this morning with the hound - it was pretty filthy in there, deep puddles in plenty of places and saw a couple of brave souls sliding their way around the place - didn't look a lot of fun. It started to rain heavily at about 8am when I was out and it's not let up since! Monday currently looking dry, wet Tues and then looks like it improves from Weds!!

Dontcha love the forest early morning, with the only sound being your brake pads incessantly wearing themselves out. Its wet wet wet wet wet. Got soaked. Stick to the made up stuff. Even the fireroads are hard work with all the wet sand patches.

I have used an entire set of pads at swinley before, 30 miles into gorrick 100 2 years ago.

Likewise I wore through a set of pads at the enduro 2 years ago, although mine only did two laps. The metal backing pads were pretty much worn through too. In the dry they last forever there, but on a wet ride like that they just disappeared.

Avoiding Swinley this weekend, hopefully it will dry out a bit next week.

Me too . Down to backing after 1 lap of the Gorrick 100 .
My LBS had a bike in that had finished 5 laps , but only by going through the pads , then the backing plate , then shaved off most of the piston face as well.
Needed new discs and calipers .
I worked out it cost me £10 a mile to do that event.
