I was cutting through Swindon in a car the other day, near the hospital, and saw some signs for a mtb area or some such. Anyone know of it? is it any good?

They have put in alot of hard work on it.Much less muddier than the Ridgeway.

MB Swindon have made a great trail with lots of features and variation in a relatively compact space. It holds up to the bad weather really well and is great fun if you just want to get out for an afternoon and enjoy your bike without travelling for miles ... well, for me anyway as I'm in Swindon.
