Calling all the soul riders
What are you running in terms of forks, stems, bars and brakes
I am interested in the length of fork you run and the length of the stems
Cheers
6ft, 32" inside leg, thomson 90mm/5deg stem, thomson layback 410mm, rockshox revs 130mm wind in to 100mm for steep climbs. juicys but just going to go to hope x2s. perfect for me!
Thanks tang
My proposed setup is similar, but my 130 revs are not U-turn. Do you think I'll have a problem?
I am 5'8" with a 30 inside leg
Medium Simple
65mm stem and easton riser bars
130mm revs dual air
Hope mini brakes
It rides lubberly me likes a lot 😀
On my Soda I have...
100mm Rebas
Thomson 90x5 stem
Easton flat bar
Mono M4 180mm front, Mono mini 160mm rear
I've tried a few forks on my Soul and it always seems to work best for me at 120mm. Currently got a 120mm Recon on it.
Im 6ft ride a large with;
Talas 130 dont seem to adjust it.
90mm raceface stem
Juicy 7 brakes
Raceface evolve xc bars

Love it !
Rich
Can you put Fox Vanilla 140's on the Soul or are they too long?
u turn is good for me as my rides have loads of steep climbs . the shallow climbs are fine at 130. low rise monkeylites feel good.

Rev u-turns and I do use the u-turn a bit, 90mm stem with some nice wide Funn Fatboy low rise bars.
Like desf I found the bike runs best around 120, so run mine with Rebas adjusted to 115 - will get some Reba maxle once the prices come down a bit
I'm 5'10 run mine with a 70mm stem Easton EA70 High Rise bars, Juicy 5's and Rebas at 115, pretty much found my ideal set up
I'm 6ft, mines a medium, 70mm Thomson X4 OS stem with Easton Carbon DH bars (what a difference over Ali bars). Hayes Mag brakes 160 rear 200 front (I like to stop) keep and thinking about changing the brakes but they do a good job and were quite cheap! 130 coil u-turn revs. I run these at 130 most of the time just because I'm lazy.Feels perfect to me. I love the bike.
This thread's really brought home to me how horrible some of the Cotic stickers are. There's a fair few potentially nice looking bikes here ruined by "look at me!" graphics.
Each to their own I guess.
I'm 6 ft, 32" inside leg.
Large Soul, 100mm Floats, Thomson inline post, Thomson 90mm 5 deg stem, mid rise EA70s, 180mm rotor XT brakes F+R.
I think it's great.
Mine's a Soda, but same same. I'm 6', 32" inside leg, ride a medium Soda with Revs at 130mm (U-Turn but I never wind them in); 90mm 10deg(?) stem, with Oro K18s front and rear. Love it - easily the best bike I've had and probably the most fun to ride, too.
This is my small Soda, set up with 70mm stem, revs set at 115mm and seat post now changed to Thomson in line 410mm. love it to bits!
i'm 5ft 4" ride a small.
Pike fork set at 120mm, 50mm stem, but probably going back to 70mm.Thomson in line post. K18 brakes with 180mm front and 160mm rear and low rise EC70 Monkeylites.
Here it is from yesterday on top of Conwy mountain
6ft, 35" inseam, ride a large with an 80mm stem.
Bars are mid rise EA70's and am probably over braked with 200/180 mono M4's, but then I'm a bit fat at the moment!
I used to run RS revs but have got some 08 Fox TALAS on now and it feels loads better. Run them at 120mm most of the time, with 100mm being useful on steep climbs. Don't tell Cy, but I have used them at 140mm a couple of times and it does fell more stable at speed but less nimble when things get twisty. I certainly wouldn't put an unadjustable 140mm fork on it, especially if you have to ride any long or steep climbs.
6'3" ride a large, fox vanilla's @ 100mm, 90/5 thomson stem, thomson inline post, easton carbon lowrise. prefer the quicker handling of the forks at 100mm.
I'm 5'8-9", 30" inside leg, riding a small size frame. It's a brill fit for my build.
Have a Hope 90mm/10deg stem and RS Rev's coil U turn. I wind them down to 100mm to get up the steep valley where I live and wind them out to 130mm to return, very useful! It's hilly, steep ups, and being a casual sort, I tend to stop and use the U turn before the next up or down, whilst 'taking the air!'.
Currently running an inline cheapie seatpost, initially bought to make sure set up was ok for me. Had never riden/seen a Soul before, so lbs made some calculated guesses on initian setup for me and we used cheap stem/seatpost until I knew it fitted me/my style.
Father xmas kindly brought me a Hope stem for Xmas, and now awaiting a Hope seatpost to appear. They are on the horizon.... seen them in the odd press articles, but still not being produced - yet!
cheers

i'm 5'10" with 32" inside leg.
I've got a medium soul with:
- 90mm Bonty X lite stem
- very wide Bonty bars
both the above came from cotic with the bike
- 100mm vanilla RLCs
- XT hydraulic brakes with 160mm rotors front and rear.
Racing in this configuration today and felt quick.
I've just broken the frame on my full suss and to be honest I think I'll stick the revelations onto the soul and ride that for the rest of the summer and see if I want to go back to having a 5" bike

The graphics are the only thing I don't like about my Soda although I think they're way better than the wraparound ones.

I managed to opt out of stickers on my Soul and Soda (RIP), though the Soda had the fairly discreet etching. If my Soul dies I hope to be able to do so again. Failing that, a heat gun and some careful peeling...
Soda is my race bike, but even when I had my Soul, 100mm was spot on I thought and when I did have U-Turn forks, I did wind them down from 130m a fair bit...
Thanks people - nice photos.
I will post mine, once its built up
I really wanted a red soul, but didn't buy when they were 'en vogue' - really regret it, but black will do just fine.
5ft 8.5" on small.
Thomson Inline & 90 x 10deg X4.
On 454 Coil Pikes run at 130mm.
Only had 2 rides & not played around with U-Turn yet.
It seems a perfect fit but worried about amount of seatpost showing.

That definitely looks familiar 😉
Yay- can log in.
Love all these cotic threads, im waiting for a soda, planned set up will be.
Fox 32 floats - reduced to 140
Straitline split steerer short stem, bike candy
Monkey Lites
Hope x2 techs
1 chain ring on front.
Hollowtech cranks I think ( but id really like middleburn - just seems like HT is better than ISIS whatever way I look at it ) - FSA gravity lights perhaps....
XTR mech and shifter cassette
MAYBE a chris king iso rear hub
High Rollers, or minions, or panaracer ( can remember the good ones ) 2.1 or 2.3....
Rims - probably mavic - some lightish ones - not the lightest but certainly from the xc sort of stuff - I know the ones I want but cant remember the catchy name they had.
newbie post over
Frankers...not for long...!!!
New decals have arrived, keep teasing Eug' about painting it green/blue/orange... 🙂
Likely to be black to match the other one.
Hey Paul
My mate Lee just built up a custard with green decals large soul with 120mm Maxle Reba's, problem is I rode it the other day and loved it 🙁
Where did you get the decals from btw
Neal, decals direct from Cotic, not cheap though at £21.
Planning to go over to see Eug' on Friday.
Take him some grapes, lucozade, copies of People Friend etc, to speed his recovery.
I cant get over how compliant the Soul is. Superb ride, really well balanced. Took it down "The Gash" on Friday...!!!
5'11 , medium custard frame, 100mm magura durins for fast handling, 90 mm stem, use low risers. Perfect
I'm running 09 dual air revs on mine at 140mm, and it feels ace!
Fox TALAS RLC 90 - 130mm, 90mm stem. Started out with 185/160 rotors, now has 203/185.
Forks were the best thing I did, I use travel adjustment lots, depending where I'm riding.
