I've got a SUN MTX 34 on a DT hub. looking to sell it but when I took it off the bike today I discovered a dirty great crack in the rim through one of the eyelets.
how easy is it to buy an identical rim, and swap over?
or sell slighty broken?
selling it broken 'if you can' is a ****s trick mate, its an accident waiting to happen.
buying a like for like shouldnt be a problem but for the price of rim and build you might as well stick a bit of extra cash on it, get something better (hope hoops !) and sell the old hub to claw a bit of cash back

Depends if the spokes (and hub) are still good and you can tension and true up a wheel. If you don't know how to lace up a rim then you can simply tape the new rim next to the old one and swap the spokes over one by one.
rubberneck - if i sold it cracked I would selling it cheap and making any buyer fully aware. its a DH rim and probably still plenty strong enough.
Hub and spokes are in great condition so if I don't get any interest then I'll stick a new rim in it.
I swapped a rim over by first taping all the crossing spokes together. This held them all roughly in place ready for new rim. Then it was just a case of lining everything up and making sure all spokes went to the correct side of the rim. Really easy and it seems alright so far!
I did a rim swap by taping a new rim next to the old one and transferring the spokes one at a time to make sure I got the lacing correct - then trued it up
got a better result that the shop who had done the previous build
Easy to do with an identical rim.
jambo, where abouts are you? I have an MTX rim which I listed in classifieds ages ago but never got round to re-listing as p+p for a rim is griefy for what its worth? If you are local-ish could arrange collection (I live nr oxford work nr reading).
as others have said taping new to old and swapping sopkes/nippples over is pretty simple.
as tj says.
Munqe - Not local but how much posted?
jam bo I'll look into it and get back to you
