[#12100298]

We are looking at doing this Dales Bike Center route at the weekend: https://www.dalesbikecentre.co.uk/pages/mtb-route-of-the-month

However one of our number has spotted the section from Blades over Feetham Pasture on the OS map is footpath. This isn’t a thread about wider cycling access. Does anyone know if there is local cycling right of way over that path?

The footpath runs on top of an old road/track. All good to ride. Can hold a bit of water along its length.

Hi
We ride it regularly and we call it watery lane as it gets wet but still rideable.
I always feel
It’s uphill both ways!!!!! Fun though!
Enjoy.
Cheers
Steve

Yep, ridden that a few times. As above though, it always seems wet!

Yeah, if you look closely at the OS map you will see that the green dotted footpath runs between parralel black dotted lines. It's an old double track. Don't know why it isn't clasified as bridleway.

Yeah I noticed that and saw the same on Google street view. However round Wharfedale we have some very snotty landowners who don’t agree with you riding on non bridleway double track. Assumed it was likely ok as Dales Bike Centre had it on their loop; but thought we’d better check with some locals.

Thanks all.

Shame the wind for the weekend has picked up so much!

There’s another descent not for from the op’s track in question that Dales Bike Centre call ‘Angry Man’. With very good reason I believe!

@ahsat Yeah Dales Bike Centre keep a pretty good relationship with the locals so don't worry you will be fine riding it.

Based on the route description on Dales BC’s website that loop includes ‘Angry Man’. But given the rest of the route is on bridleway…

I got massively shouted at the other month by a very angry man walking up the pavement for me being on the road, on my road bike, descending under the speed limit! Who knows what goes through peoples minds.

Thanks @Jordan - that had been my impression.

Hi again.
Been riding that track for 20+ years and only had one comment from a walker as I rode past him that it was a footpath.
It was my group that named angry man- he’s accosted us 3 times about riding past his house even though it’s legal. It’s recently been on the market for £2.5 million!!!!
He even chased down the road after us in a Land Rover to chastise us for riding too fast down the track.
He’s a dick!!!!
Cheers
Steve

Thanks all. Watery lane was all good and walkers had no issues. Didn’t encounter angry man as one of our group was struggling so we cut the top loop off. Still a very enjoyable ride and some new to us tracks.
