Looking at making better use of it rather than using it mainly for recording heart rate so anyone any tips for using it in training?

e.g. In 2009 I based my training on hours and terrain ridden (eg metres climbed, how tough) but this doesn't emperically show how hard the week has been. I thought that total epoc in a week might do this but then is two rides of 50 (total 100) harder than one ride of 75?

Have also looked at Firstbeat sofware but that it limited in it's training plans and also the week is based on total epoc as above - I can do this in a spreadsheet rather than pay £92 for it.

tks

I've got a Suunto T3, and to be honest, I find the 'training' effort stuff built into it is a load of nonsense.

I much prefer to set my own zones from HRmax or a lactate threshold test, then train to heart rate zones v time (ie 3hrs Z2, 1hr Z4)

I have the t6c & find it

a. a very comfortable hrm (the most comfortable I've ever used: polar; garmin etc)
b. very accurate
c. has excellent software
d. it appears to be very well made

The TE readings I have found as a very usefull guide & have prevented boom & bust training.

The epoc reading I found takes a bit of education to work out how to make use of it but given some of the material written about using it now, its much easier & invaluble to serious training / coaching. ( http://www.fletchersportscience.co.uk is a good start)

I also have the bike kit (mavic manufactured) that is great for ease of switching between bikes.

only negative comments -
1.battery in wrist unit drains quickly if you leave attached to pc for an extended time (it is however user replaceable cr2032)
2.the run pod doesn't give access to raw data (I was interested to see cadence when running)
3.use the night mode setting if your going to use the hrm at night & wat to be able to view it as pretting the 'light' button causes odd flashing results that make it unreadable.
