Who fancies it? Any thread about Leith Hill etc brings out hundreds of people, so you're obviously all out there!

A nice sensible 'as slow as the slowest rider' pootle around the hills in what will inevitably be glorious sunshine and dusty trails with a spot of cake in Peaslake?

Anyone?

The new bit at the end of BKB is fan-bloody-tastic. Big swoopy berms; the faster the better! ๐Ÿ˜€

Psychle; you'd be training it down from Waterloo (is it Waterloo?) Could join you, actually.

Agreed, I'm crap at riding it though, pretty quick on the first half, then it all goes wrong on the bottom half!

Suggest a Holmbury St Mary meeting point? That way we're central for doing all the hills? I can cobble together anything up to a 40 mile route, which I'm sure would cover us!

I'll be there. Would be nice to see other people's take on the place and maybe find some new bits.
For the meeting point are you talking about the YHA carpark?

ooohh faces to names ๐Ÿ™‚
I'd be up for it.
Officially the Hurtwood ask for riding in groups of six or less. We may have to ignore that!

We can put small gaps between every 6th rider ๐Ÿ˜‰

Can do YHA car park, or the glade car park up beyond the Royal Oak?

Shame you're not around Mister P, have to get out over the summer!

I've just noticed there's a race on the 23rd, but I'm thinking I'll miss it.

Do the day which suits most people?

I'd say 22nd would be marginally better for me, but could do either!

I think I can make it too. Not been to that area for a while now, and it's always pretty good

I'll check when I get back from holiday in about 10 days, but it sounds good from here. Sunday would suit me best I think. ๐Ÿ™‚

Will you heading out to that rather disturbing trail snaking through the tress on the backside of Leith with the big bombholes? Last year we "stumbled across it" but haven't been able to find it again...
We could bring the tandem?

I don't really know Leith nearly as well as the other hills, it's the 'far end' of the hills for me, but if people know it then yep, why not, I can mince my way down it! Sounds like you may mean Chocolate Jesus?

I will try to come along. Busy schedule at work but weekends *should* remain free. As long as you promise not to race off everywhere and give us 'vets' chance to get our heartrate below 150 every now and then.
Cheesestraws yum yum.- I'm there.

I may be going to Wales that weekend, but if not will try and come along - never ridden there so I'd be interested in a guided tour! (plus the cake sounds good ๐Ÿ˜€ )

I think we have family staying 20th to 24th so I'll have to see how easy it is to disappear. Perhaps if I'm a good boy Thu and Fri I'll be allowed out Sat or Sun ๐Ÿ˜€

anything up to a 40 mile route

That's a fair old distance to go round at bimbling speed - a good 5-6 hours or so. Perhaps the group could split at some point for those that want to carry on?

Is it Waterloo for the train?

Waterloo should take you to Dorking, then it's approx 5-7 miles to Holmbury. Although you can change down there and go to Effingham or Gomshall.

If I can make it, I might be able to pick you up ...

Right...

Let's say Sunday 23rd, nail a date down!

It's hillier than Swinley, but not crazy, definitely SSable, there's a few little climbs which may hurt a bit.

Dorking is accessible by train from Victoria, still a reasonable distance to ride, Effingham Junction is from Waterloo, but again, still a fair way away, you'd have to go up over the North Downs to get to Holmbury. Gomshall would be the closest station, you'd need to go from Victoria and change at Redhill onto a Reading train, or go from Waterloo and change at Clapham/Redhill only one an hour stops at Gomshall though, and maybe less on Sundays.

All I meant was I know the trails well enough to be able to cobble together a 40 mile loop, I don't propose we do a 40 mile ride, unless people do want to, I'm happy to stay out until everyone's bored/fallen out with each other!

I don't really know the jumpy stuff, so if some folk want that and some want to do some miles we can always split up, deal with that on the day.

My email's in profile if people want to sort anything out off-forum.

Nick

Great!

Pinches does that mean you can't do the 23rd? I was assuming the Sunday would be preferable for most, I knew I shouldn't have put two days in the title!

Will there be a Slackers Group? It is customary on Forum Rides. ๐Ÿ™‚

Otherwise Talkemada will be forced to look after me. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I strongly suspect the whole thing will be for slackers!

The number of groups depends on how many folk turn up, and how many of those know their way around. We can just deal with all that on the day!

I still don't know the trails well, so I should really come along if I'm free.

(hopefully not too early a start though!)

NOOOOOOOO its CRAP the hills are really steep

the singletrack is rooty as hell

the landowners carry shotguns and are not afraid to use them

But ...............if you are going insist start at leith hill and work your way over to Holmbury

but you will only need to bring rigid single speeds with 1.8 nobby nic tyres

anything more is over kill ๐Ÿ˜‰
